Chill. We've only just dug ourselves out of a deep debt hole, so we need to be sensible with our finances in future.
In the summer Norwich signed Van Wolfwinkel for £8.8m, Southampton paid £13.2m for Osvaldo, Sunderland spent £8.8m on Altidore and Cardiff bought Cornelius for £7.6m and I wouldn't say that any of them have been good value.
I don't have a problem with us picking players like McGeady and Ince up cheaply and making full use of the loans system. I don't think that we're not spending because we don't have money available but because there aren't a lot of players worth buying.
It's been a very quiet window all round so far. Our Scottish Irish winger and Guitierrez are the only deals that I'm aware of so far.
The deal with Aiden has shown that things can change around quickly and we made a few signings in the summer in quick succession with very little fanfare. Martinez will want a striker and a midfielder and I'd be surprised if we didn't get some exciting new arrivals before 1st February.
Spot on mate.
All the talk about jumping the gun on the window: right now we stand on the verge of pulling in 7.5M for Jelavic and have spent less than a million on McGeady...in a window where we're supposed to be bringing in replacements only for Kone and Gibson. We're now still at two down in terms of squad strength.
We have a surplus in this window already to add to the surplus in the last window... never mind kicking the can down the road to the summer when this opportunity to get a European spot will be gone, it needs spending right now just to go back to the numbers we were at when the last window closed.
Shambolic if true. There is a stupidly huge amount of money coming in the summer. If they are saying that the leftover money from last summer is all there is going to be able to be spent, that needs serious questioning. To be fair, the 10 million number has been quoted a lot, and Martinez has been rumored to prefer spending it in the summer rather than now.
I just don't think it's time to start blaming Everton for giving him money when we don't really know how much he's been offered or if he even really wants to spend it right now.
Everton still hopes the arrival of FC Twente striker Dusan Tadic, but the Toffees are according to The Sun unwilling to meet. the asking price of twelve million
Chairman Joop Munsterman had already know that several clubs dropping the hefty price tag that hangs around the neck of the creative left leg. However, Everton leaves are not easily put off and John Heitinga would like to involve in the deal, making it possible transfer fee will be located. Among the ten million
However, it is still questionable how reliable these rumors are. With Aiden McGeady, the club has been reinforced with a winger, the Irish striker joins from Spartak Moscow and signed a contract for 4.5 years in England.

which(the first part) would be fine if the second one wasnt so spot on.It might be that he wants it to add to what he gets in the summer.......
of course we all know how it works....

Is it just me that, further to being underwhelmed, would actually be annoyed if the Baines contract is the news?
It takes him till mid January, when we've been performing great, and he has seen someone step up and more than adequately replace him, to sign a new deal. Most probably because United have finally given up in trying to sign him.
He hasn't looked nearly as effective this year, save for 2 outstanding free kicks, and the side has looked better and more evenly balanced with Oviedo in the side, and not just against poor opposition either. Oviedo also scored 2 goals from open play and assisted at least 3 other goals in the 5-6 games he played.
Further more, we will have tied down a 29 year old left back, to a long term contract, meaning any potential transfer fee for him will not be added to our less than modest transfer budget.
If the rumours that United where willing to pay upwards to £18m for a 29 year old left back where true, then that is something of a missed opportunity for us, regardless of how effective he has been.
I read a post from someone before saying it didn't matter if he had been below par this season because he had been so good in the past, yet others are glad to see the back of Jelavic for a handsome fee because he has been below par this (and to be fair, last) season, despite his performances before that.
Don't get me wrong, I like Baines, and think he has been great for us for a long time, but I just think the time it has taken to come around, and the potential windfall we could miss out on, makes this great news all the more underwhelming, and when we are screaming out for an injection of real quality further up the pitch, a new contract for a 29 old left back, rather than making me excited, leaves me feeling somewhat disappointed.
