Silly Season January 2014

Jelavic scored 7 league goals last year. Jones has bettered that three times (08/09, 09/10, 10/11) and equalled it once (07/08). In each of those four seasons he made fewer appearances that Jelavic did last season.

but since then - 13 goals in 4 seasons (88 prem games) - aint great for a player in his prime .
where as jelavic got 16 in 3 seasons (59 games)

I am more than happy to take other people's opinions on board lad just when clowns like you start labelling people Kopites and moyes lovers and anti Martinez for having a different opinion that makes me speak up.
Its just the fact that a stupid made up rumour from on here gets into a national paper is enough to convince you that Martinez cant pick a player and everyone who disagrees with you has a RAWk like fixation with Martinez. You are the one who has gotten a bit hysterical and now you are going after everyone else who tries to talk to you about it and make you see otherwise. Not having a go by the way. Just an observation.

Anybody who wants to see vellios in our starting 11 .... Or even on the bench ....needs to seriously question themselves ..... He's never going to be good enough for premier league football..... He's not brave enough as a striker .

hmmm , i cant see what thats based on. jelavic has hardly had a look in so dont see how vellios could have either.
so we havent had a chance to see his progression. imo during pre season i remember vellios looking lively and pretty good. thats the only time ive seen him this season though.

I haven't based it on anything concrete other than he hasn't had a sniff of a first team place even with Jela bad form and the few posters on here that say he has looked distinctly average to bad for the U21's. When he first arrived there was a little bit of hope that he could make it and now there seems no hope especially as he has refused to even go out on loan. I would say he seems to be going backwards.

whats the excuses for constant bottom half finishes?

I love RM and think he's boss, but this re writing of history by the new RAWK mentality breed of Everton fans is laughable, basically the rule of this breed go as:

"must claim Wigan would have won league without Gary Caldwell injured"
"must claim Moyes was ****e"
"anyone who states differently to the above is a Kopite"

and that's coming from someone who wanted Moyes gone and was made up with Martinez coming in!

the excuse for constant bottome half finishes mate, well that would be losing any player who excelled their, plus the fact wigan where constantly bottom of the wages paid table at 20th mate with 38m a year in salaries, everton for example was 10th the season wigan went down paying 63m a year, overall to stay in the league whilst constantly bottom of wages paid was quite a feat, as i said earlier though, when your doing that then get a decimation of your starting defense your pretty much gonna be screwed.

Thats not the rewriting of history its just pure simple facts, that the wages paid by and large dictate where you finish roughly in this league mate, to label people RAWKish when their probably considerably older than you (given the maturity of your responses) and been following everton when you where still a twinkle in the milkmans eye is exactly the sort of behavior that forums known for

I don't think I've labeled you a kopite. I did think some of your comments were pedantic and extremely narrow, as many of your comments were quite aggressive and laden will ill intent to the person you were "discussing" the issue with. But nevertheless, I think you give some very good advice.

So please grow up mate and learn to take other people's opinions on board rather than go all text book RAWK.

if someone criticises me for having an opinion I'll bite back that's the way I am so if you come out with the "get off the Bobby's back" for having an opinion on ONE aspect of his management that has sufficient ground to question considering his wigan signings/ones like Kone here then I'll give you a reply, if you don't like the reply you shouldn't attempt to make someone appear any "less" of a supporter just because they simply dont have this 100% no ask no questions positivity In Martinez/Moyes I trust crap that you may have

i still hold out hope for him myself . hes a big lad for his age ,hes only 22 , and has had a few good cameo appearances in his short time here , scoring 3 goals . we have had worse 3rd or 4th choice strikers.

good reply mate which I respect, but you can argue surely they had this wage issues during the years pre Martinez, like I said some managers excel at bigger clubs like Wenger, others like Holloway seem to excel at smaller clubs, Martinez for me seems like the sort who needs the quality players at his disposal to excel at his tactics. But again, having seen every aspect of his tactics/management so far to a large degree other than his transfer policy, its fair to question/worry when we are linked with dross signings.

Funny thing is people are throwing a wobbly atm, quoting martinez at wigan, when in fact as shown by his business with us a few of the wigan signs where quality, if you think we operate under tight constraints and a sell to buy regime, then god help how the wigan fans musta felt lol

Vellios has played 1 U21 game since pre-season, can't see how he can of developed, refusing to go on loan is just stupid, I think he knows that because he's played for Everton he will get a similar contract back in Greece when he's done here, no ambition.

Vellios is not good enough for a team chasing champions league football, nor is Kenwyne Jones
