good reply mate which I respect, but you can argue surely they had this wage issues during the years pre Martinez, like I said some managers excel at bigger clubs like Wenger, others like Holloway seem to excel at smaller clubs, Martinez for me seems like the sort who needs the quality players at his disposal to excel at his tactics. But again, having seen every aspect of his tactics/management so far to a large degree other than his transfer policy, its fair to question/worry when we are linked with dross signings.

Until their actual signed mate don't throw a wobbly, fact is certain managers breed into their team the scrapper thing which is good at keeping them up, but they get found out eventually, see alardice for what injuries do to a team with a lot more spending power than wigan, yet his bolton sides where always staying up, if it wasn't for injuries ripping the heart outta that defense which wasnt the best anyways they would have stayed up last year, alcaraz was a massive miss for a large part of the season, if you actually look at the record with him compared to without its an alarming difference tbh and probably a big reason why he wanted him here

a 'crap' 22 year old already on the books with minimum contract/wages or a 'crap' 29 year old you would have to spend money on and a high-ish contract/wages ?

.....I'm still of the opinion that Jela didn't fit RMs team model, because of that I wouldn't compare him with others. RM wants a certain type of central striker and Jelavich wasn't that.

yeah i'd keep vellios until the summer and then just get rid of him when his contract expires

Had him watched a few times, people going to see him play against Preston. Coventry desperate for cash, could be done on the cheap.

Belgian as well, no idea as to what he's like though. Never watched him, but apparently come on leaps and bounds in the past 18 months.

Update, he has recently rejected a new contract from Coventry but Ipswich are after him as well now.

He's not really 'close' to the club mate he just gets to ask people question sometimes. They wouldn't exactly discuss transfers with him.

...not sure what/why your saying. I'm not defending Jelavic, I'm quite glad he's moved on actually. All I'm saying is that folk are comparing him with others (like Jones) and I don't think that is appropriate. RM appears to like a certain type of striker and Jela didn't fit that mould (not withstanding the fact that he's not played well for a long time).
