Just seen on Sky Barkley has a confirmed broken toe

I was told last night the injury was nothing serious and he'll be back for the derby. I presumed the toe wasnt broken, but if it as appears is broken it must only be very slight

Still certain he'll be fit for the ****e

That's a shame, its a big game for Franck Moussa to make his debut in the derby.

Yeah, point taken. I'd expect Martinez to bring the right 'sort' in too...good attitude etc.

It comes down to finances first and foremost. Where's the ambition here to make a fist of this CL spot challenge? We'll get the answer to that question in the next two weeks, I suppose.

Out of the fair few players i've mentioned and with the common sense to realize that a few (De Bruyne etc) are not realistic options sadly even though they should be given the finances of outs and ins, the one i'd see as the perfect signing for us is Defour, still young, desperate for more first team playing time, played in a few different countries and cultures so is adaptable, is still damned young considering how long he seems to have been around at 25, desperate to keep his place in the Belgium world cup squad, assume he has to be on decent terms with both Mirrales and Lukaku given the way the Belgium lads all seem to get along well together, and lastly he has never fulfilled his potential he had as a 19yo when he broke his ankle, you have to figure that under roberto maybe he would start to realise that potential

Combine that with he has only started 6 games with 2 more as a sub in the league for port with like 500 odd minutes played so even in the osman role in the squad he would be obver doubling his time on the field and with Villa being linked by presumably his agent the other weak and for a quoted fee of like 4-5m its very very realistic

Diego is a shout.
6 months left on his deal, Wolfsburg have spent big money on De Bruyne, doesnt want to stay in Germany and doesnt want a return to Spain. G'wed Roberto.

Hate to burst your bubble but he's on about £125k per week, their top earner by a huge margin. Bet they'll be dying to get rid.

I'd seen something about us having sent scouts to watch him numerous times, assumed nothing had come of it though.
I knew we'd had him watched a little while back, just thought there might have been follow up in our interests. We need him as cover in the middle

Next season we are going to be in the Champions League, and we are going to need a big squad to challenge for the league that is why Roberto is looking for free transfers and cheap options to bolster the squad we have just got to trust his judgement he as done well so far.

It sounds all too good to be true with him (Defour) doesn't it? Price, quality, experience. I wonder why it's only the likes of Villa linked with him?

God knows mate, probably down to him not being a success at porto, made a few wary of taking the chance on him, like why van der vaart ended up at hamburg etc, could be an arteta like signing imo and im guessing the villa link is down to benteke suggesting him actually, defour has a great deep ball better than gibsons and has a habit of smacking thunderbolts parried into the way of the striker (think it was one of those that led to lieges first vs us when they beat us)

Those deep balls to lukaku would tear apart any team playing a high line vs us though

In my youth I wanted a fast car. I saved and saved and saved for a long time to buy an XR2i. It took me so long to save up my money that the Astra GTE fell into my price range, so I got one of them instead.

The moral of that cool story is........well, I'm not sure.

To summarise, I think Bobby is saving his cash in the summer so he'll have between £20-30m to spend....on an Astra GTE.

Who's keeping Defour out of the Porto team at the moment? Always thought he was an excellent player.

Fernando and Lucho Gonzales the former argie international mate are the starters, they also have Carlos Eduardo and Héctor Herrera who are all competing with defour for time plus they have just had some young lad breaking through too Juan Quintero whose making a big impact apparently as a cam
