I hope we are not after Jones, it's like putting the car in reverse gear.
We should have a notes section at the top of this thread with updates for people who (quite reasonably) don't want to read the whole thread. Jones is "confirmed"* as being agent/paper talk with no real interest on our end.

*The degree of confirmation depends on how much you trust a bloke (who has been fairly reliable in the past) who apparently knows a Stoke agent. Most people tend to think it's pretty solid info so I'd lower my concern level over Jones to maybe a 1/2 out of 10 at this point. Looks like nothing.

It's all context though ...

If we get Batshuayi in (Battsy if we sign him?) and then got Jones for 1m-2m as a depth player who wouldn't see all that much time bar injuries/Cup games I think it's a decent enough signing.

If it's just Jones then pass the bleach.

Connor Sammon scored once in 32 league games for Wigan before being sold to Derby. Find one Wigan fan who thought Sammon was great for them and get him to post in here.

Ah come on mate. He relegated a side in three years that Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce had kept up for five between them. It's great that he won them a cup but he didn't do 'as well as is possible'.

Rodallega did well there and that's why I didn't include him in my Martinez list of shame. That doesn't mean some of his other buys weren't suspect, even for a team of Wigan's stature.

You're an Everton fan and you want to stick up for Everton's manager. Sound. It doesn't change that Martinez has dropped some bollocks in the transfer market and 'IT WAS ONLY WIGAN' doesn't excuse them all.

Every manager has made good and bad signings. Care to mention some of our last managers bad eggs?? Get off bobby's back an go sulk in the moyes corner of negative thoughts.

All strikers aren't neccaserily goal scoring machines, dare a say you can look as close to home as Duncan Ferguson to see that. Sadly Wigan fans are a rare breed so that's easier said then done

Paul Jewll and Steve Bruce also had the likes of Bainsey, Valencia, Palacious, Cattermole and Heskey (when he was actually half decent and playing for England) it's not like he inherited a great side.

Everyone drops a bollock here or there, but from a Wigan fans point of view, I imagien they will look back at his transfer buys as fairly positive, with the odd bad one here or there

I think it is the Agent touting him about. Remember Mbai was coming to us at one point, Joey Barton, Martins Indi, all agents touting. YOu mention a club who is interested and hope other clubs come waving their wads of money.

How do you think Staq ended up here? His agent was literally touting him up and down the country, with him in the back of the car! Happens all the time, don't believe the rumours until you hear the club say it.

I'm scared of the rumours about Jones but if we cant get our target striker till summer, should we get Jones in to help Lukaku? It could be worse, Villa have signed Holt from Wigan on loan.

I don't reckon there's anything to these Jones rumours, but he'd be an improvement on Jelavic and probably for considerably less than the £6-7m Hull are rumoured to have paid for Jela.

If he was just brought in to back Lukaku up while we throw the change left over on the pile for a proper striker in the summer I wouldn't be too gutted.

I'd rather play Vellios than Jones ffs

i second this .
if you cant get ahead of peter crouch or get into the stoke team , then your clearly not good enough for a team with aspirations of getting into the champions league.
id rather see a player learning and growing than an inadequate spent force bought in just making up the numbers on the cheap.

one or the other as back up , yes , but id so not like going into next season with both kone and jones on the books.

this is the RAWK total devolution comments I was talking about, in fact you have perfected it, bravo sir.

Just because someone questions the managers signings doesn't make them any less of a fan than you or a moyes lover, fact is at Wigan he made more bad signings than good hence why they got relegated, and moyes made more good singings than bad whilst here hence why we are challenging for the top 4 despite spending **** all on anything but new lawn mowers thanks to Kenwright. So please grow up mate and learn to take other people's opinions on board rather than go all text book RAWK.

For such a statement of FACT as you say mate you are totally and utterly wrong, the reason wigan got relegated wasn't anything to do with making bad signings, it was to do with having basically the entire starting defense out injured for a large part of the season, without the defense being decimated through injury they would have stayed up, FACT
