We need to bring in a striker urgently but at the same time not a rash decision. We've got Chelsea away in a few weeks and Lukaku is ineligible

“But it (attack) would be an area that we are looking at before the window closes. We are looking at the options to see if there is a player with the right profile who would fit into the squad.”

Looking around on google it looks like he played as a striker going by the Olympiakos fans saying his favourite position is as a striker. To be honest I could have sworn when he first came everyone was saying he played on the left but I'm probably wrong

Why I asked the question initially...I wonder if Roberto has it in the back of his head to play him as backup striker till the end of the season IF we cant land a quality striker (which will fit into his way of playing) in this window. I am honestly hoping that he would get in Lukaku BUT I know it is a very long shot...but if he is thinking of that he might need to settle for a cheap striker OR someone like Mirallas as backup...and then maybe have a stronger transfer kitty come end of the season.

The other reason I am thinking about...didnt Martinez say that Jelavic will ONLY leave IF we have a backup striker that came in. But we got McGeady in...that might maybe move into the wing and then allow Mirallas to move into a striker position which in efeect means we got a player into that position and thus why he let Jelavic go. That said...all is totaslly speculation on my side and I might be completely wrong...

I know. We have two weeks to do something but the sooner the better.

How do we bring in a good enough striker before the window closes and someone good enough to challenge Lukaku and to help us push on for the league and cup?

I hated seeing Jelavic with that Hull shirt and I thought he earnt his place to stay at the club, I understand he wanted to get more time with the WC coming up but it's so hard to see him go when we have nothing in terms of adequate back-up.

Is Velios worth a go against Stevenage?

Martinez and co wouldn't have let Jelavic leave leave unless they had some transfer targets in mind who they felt were affordable and suitable.

To be honest I think Mirallas might have said to Martinez that he wants more opportunities to play centrally so that might be why Martinez is making noises about Mirallas as cover for up front. We still need a striker to cover Jelavic/Kone but with McGeady coming in it does seem like Mirallas might be slotted in where he's needed most across the front 4. It might even play into Martinez' transfer ideas because he might just be thinking that instead of getting an out and out striker he gets a Mirallas type of player in who can play up front but he's just as comfortable anywhere on the forward line.

I can't be the only one to have noticed the cryptic message...

Petrified.
