Silly Season January 2014

You haven't included any agent fees in the sales.

Neymar's 57m fee was 40m agent costs. As Everton transfers (like almost all transfers) are "undisclosed", we have no idea how much money the club actually receive.

Neymar's fee was that much towards the agent because his father owned a large percentage of his contract, it wasn't agent fees as it was fees for buying his dads share of his contract (who is also his agent)

I know we'v been up down and all around this road before but I would be seriously getting on the phone to spurs to try and get a good deal on holtby. Excellent replacement for Osman IMO.

And yeah like the look of Deleufoe's mate the Spanish U21 striker.

The bottom line is that we need a striker, otherwise the squad will come out of the window worse off than beforehand. There's no excuse from the club for not splashing a bit of cash, especially when we're involved in a very intense battle for a Champions League place and we're looking to win the FA Cup.

Going off some simple transfer sums we have a good amount of surplus money from transfers, approximately £13m. That is on top of any transfer budget we supposedly had for last summer (McCarthy deal not dependent on Fellaini transfer) and for this January.

Our wage bill may have increased, but so has our revenue this season.

Incomings (As there are no certain figures on loans I've assumed a straight £1m for each):

Lukaku - £1m - Good Signing
Barry - £1m - Good Signing
Deulofeu - £1m - Good Signing
Robles - £3m - Good Signing
Alcaraz - Free - Good Signing
Kone - £6m - Bad Signing - Poor player, old, big fee in which if was sold on wouldnt get half that back!
McGeady - £1m - Good Signing (i think he will be)
McCarthy - £13m - Good Signing

Total: £26m

Outgoings:

Anichebe £5m (rising to £6m)
Fellaini £27.5m
Jelavic £6.5m (rising to £7.5m)

Total: £39m (rising to £41m)

Good or Bad Signings?

We're all the first to talk about agent fee's, signing on fees, wages etc.... And kone gets labeled as a bad signing, yet if all those things are low cost, then his 5M fee becomes a lot less important.

I have no doubt, RM came in and decided we had NO striker capable of his football. Vic and jelavic's days were numbered as soon as he got here. Kone was always going to be short term starter long term back up. The fact he got a bad injury and we ended up getting lukaku has made the deal look all the worse.

Wasn't Paco Alcacer at Finch Farm last week? According to some guy on Twitter, who also seems a buddy of Merro so could just be complete horse balls.

I just have to say, the thought of never seeing Osman or Naismith on the wing again fills me with immense joy.

Welcome to Everton, Aiden lad.

If McGeady is not fit to start and Mirallas is potentially moved infield to cover Barkley or as a striker then that leaves Pienaar as our only currently fit winger. Think we'll be seeing Naismith toil out of position quite a few times yet.
