Silly Season January 2014

Yeah but often players become available in the summer not available in Jan.

If he blows his budget on number 3's and 4's

Imagine the fume if a big one is missed in the summer.

Its a balancing act obviously, but its just a bit daft to rule out buying players in Jan bacause they're overpriced when he just done that in the summer gone anyway, just makes it look like an excuse to cover up the fact he hasn't been given the money he needs for players who are priced right.

All depends on if overpaying in Jan can be balanced out by finishing higher in the league.

Just hope whatever happens its the best thing.

I'm not saying buying in Jan is impossible.

Its just Martinez himself said its not his preference.

But if say lukaku was available now. For £7.5m

he'd bite their hand off. But its unlikely in Jan.

I hope it is a case of the value not being right but the money is there, rather than the value is right but money isn't there.

Its a catch 22.

One things for sure. If Martinez spent £10million on a 29 year old now

I'd fume. When he might get x2 22 year olds in the summer and one turns out to be a £30million wonder buy.

Its like you say. Balancing act.

again though mate everything you are saying is completely hypothetical, so we could only spend £10 million on a 29 yr old in January and not the summer? and vice vera with 2x 22 year olds?

Roberto has said January is a bad time to pick up a permanent signings, so maybe another loan is the best move and he can shop again in the summer.

He always said he would look at short term deals this month. He doesn't really like the January window, says its hard to get good deals in this month and its better to do business in the summer.

Traore would be a good loan move but we do need 2 strikers really, maybe Traore on loan and permanent signing this month, a Batshuayi or Reira type. But we also need a midfield option but are loan options aren't great once or IF we sign Traore. Maybe we might look into signing Fernando permanently this month?.

I think we all would.

2 weeks left to go though, can only wait and see what happens.

Wouldn't mind Stephen Fletcher if he was cheap enough. But he probably won't be. Think he's got a 1 in 3ish record in the Prem which considering who he played for is not a bad return. With better players around him i reckon he has enough about him to be a decent back up striker/Lukaku replacemnt if he does really well.

Is he actually any good?

He's not just Peter Crouch is he?

Never seen him player ever.

He's better than Crouch mate!. I said a few years ago we should be looking at this lad when he was at Cluj in Romania. In there CL season he was brilliant, scored some belting goals and looked a real handful, and tbh, a typical Moyesy type striker for us with us being a bit direct!

If there is any truth in this Traore rumour I can still see Martinez bringing in a permenant signing in midfield ... Fernando or defour .. I know Fernando reportedly is signing for Milan but nothing would surprise me know with Martinez also think we might bring in ince before window shuts
