Traore deal is looking nailed on mate, suggesting that bobby is leaving the permanent solution to the striker problem until the summer whilst he fixes the other areas of the squad this January - i hope, mid cover can be sorted by getting in Natkho mate, he is a very similar type player to Gibson only without the appalling injury/fitness record and should we get him can see Gobson being moved on in the summer tbh, other option would be DeFour, would be cheap enough and definitely adds quality to the midfield, not a like for like for nay of them in their but thats no bad thing as he brings something different

Tosh this.

Us getting Traore in on loan can evaluate to a couple of things speculation wise
1) Bobby is saving his penny's for lukaku in the summer or atleast a quality striker of a similar cost
2) With michy batshiayi apparently not going anywhere till atleast the summer Martinez is prepared to wait for him and Traore is a good stop gap in the meantime
3) We have no money............... Weres the Alan ball money bill?

Personally with evertons new optimistic attitude I don't suspect it is number 3. Number 1 or 2 would be great and both would be fap in my pants time. Or it could be 4) something else

I think Gibson is here to stay ,when fit he has been a good signing.I agree his injury record has been poor but if we can get him fit he has to stay

Martinez likes Gibson. Alot.

So do I. But nobody likes his injury record. It would be fool hardy to rely on Gibson, as I predict his next injury once he eventually returns will not be far away.

Gibson clearly needs replacing, no matter how much he is liked.

So do i mate, but the simple fact is Martinez is a winner with a winenrs mentality, i don't see him being as sentimental as some managers and at the end of the day the truly best managers arent sentimental - only to the point it serves their interests usually

Problem with Gibson is you will never ever be able to build a team with him as a central part of it with any confidence due to the fitness record being what it is, it's not going to fix itself now or likely ever will do, people who think it will are like the people who thought all jela needed was a goal to get back to where he was at the start of his everton days, its a ncie sentiment and its nice to hope for it, but reality says otherwise

So the future will be him as either a squad player who can come in when fit and injuries suspensions hit - assuming he is actually fit at those times himself to do so, as a starter who we all know is likely to breakdown with a relatively long term injury at any moment, or to move him on... so its down to what Martinez sees his role as and what role Gibson is happy with going onwards

But to have a player who potentially every season you need to sign a covering player for due to them going down crocked isn't the way to build a team for the future

Reminds me on Darren Anderton mate, who was a pretty good player when fit, only problem is like Gibson he'd spend 3-4 games getting his fitness back, play a couple of cracking games then get injured again for a few months, rinse repeat etc

Good summary really.

If it's not 1 or 2 then i'm fuming.

Won't happen. Gibson is too good a player.

He still won't be replaced unless his leg is completely knackered.

Plus. Players get injured. Trying to find a player who will never be injured is impossible

Aye mate obviously injuries happen in sport all the time, the key is seeing trends, Gibson is very prone to injury, he also has far more setbacks on those injuries, and once back has a habit of picking up another injury, not the lads fault, some peoples bodies are just more susceptible to breaking down, and its a shame that to all intents and appearances he is one of those unlucky ones

and that was before he completely done his knee, players with good fitness records have struggled after those injuries, so im dreading to think how Gibson will be afterwards, as a lot of times they get compensatory injuries after coming back from them

I just think the days of him being an integral part of the team are gone, bad luck, bad timing but thats how it is sometimes

Tadic vs Feyneoord this year, 2 goals 2 assists, the second assist is pure quality, for those doubting his versaitility you can see he plays most of the game on the left but seems to swap inside dropped off at times, lad looks pure quality, another thing to note is that with the final ball being Barkleys one big weakness atm, how much would it aid his development in that area training day in day out with a player like Tadic, could be the making of our ross as the complete midfielder we all hope he becomes

This video to me says two things,

Firstly that Lukaku would strive of having his fella behind hi

Secondly that Twente need a striker based on how many chances they missed and still won 4-0.

The variety of his passing is the thing that stuck out to me mate, can be direct but has some nice little one touch stuff too, good crosser also which given the height we have now with traore coming in apparently could be useful
