Yep very true, maybe a chance with holtby as they only paid 1M. Would still think they would want anything upto about 5M but given the different roles he can play I would pay that all day long.

I've been shouting out for Defour since the summer mate, would be a great addition, and surprised theirs not been any sign we have an interest in him
He would be ideal for us but have we got any money that's the question? If our board have any ambition we need to buy now and push for the top 4.We have a lot of money from transfers and we should have millions of sky money spend it now

Yes we have money. It's as always gonna be about spending it wisely and keeping a big chunk for summer. Defour from 3-4 yrs ago, full of promise I'd be all for. But you can't ignore the fact that since that big injury he's been a shadow of the player he looked back then. Moyes was a big fan and too fergie, yet there not looking, nor are any other big clubs by the look of it.
We'v often done very well out of these gambles tho on players who've maybe lost there way a little so there's pro's and con's to signing him. Personaly would prefer holtby myself. Think he's a very good versatile player. Perfect osman replacement IMO.

Reported to be available for around 4-5m mate, Porto only payed around 2.5m for him in the first place and he's not been starting for them since he arrived so if we haven't got that sort of money then questions need to be asked
If we could get him and Traroe we would be ready for a push for the champions league places.
I agree about holtby but defour for something loke 3 million would be well worth the risk.Roberto would get the best out of him.
As for us having money I bet we need to sell before we spend anything over 5 million.

Should be putting in bids for Tadic and Defour tbh mate, we'd get those two whilst still being in profit transfer wise this year, then use any sales/tv/CL money - if qualified next year to get Lukaku with the other striker spots being loans again

No chance mate. We have money! And with the TV money due that we havnt touched I imagine we'v got a nice tidy sum for Roberto to use.
I think he's been very sensible (kone asside) with his spending. He's taking his first year to really asses what and who he needs. The summer is when we will do a big chunk of business IMO. There could be some big players available come summer and we will need the cash there ready to play.

All well and good mate, but at certain times your in a position to do something now whilst the opportunity is their, i'm certain that martinez knows where the weak areas of the squad are right now and not strengthening whilst sitting a point of 4th deserves criticism imo just as it would if moyes was manager still, maybe moreso as well Bobby apparently does in fact have money

But if the players he wants ain't available, they ain't available mate! He can't just go and spend 4M on defour because he's better than osman, as he'd then be using money that's for someone else who perhaps he has to wait till summer for. Etc etc....
It's not as easy and straight forward as some seem to think.
