But if the players he wants ain't available, they ain't available mate! He can't just go and spend 4M on defour because he's better than osman, as he'd then be using money that's for someone else who perhaps he has to wait till summer for. Etc etc....

It's not as easy and straight forward as some seem to think.

Theirs no saying that the targets he wants most are gonna be available come the summer either though mate, sometimes you can waste a lifetime waiting for the right one like ;)

Personally i don't think there will be money available in the summer but i hope i am wrong on that front.

We need to secure our transfers this week as a matter of urgency. There is nothing better than signing someone new and bringing them in for the F.A cup game to raise excitment for the season. Traore may be injured but there are more players to come in so sooner the better.

I honestly think that we will buy someone else this window. Martinez has said he needs a central midfielder and last night shown that he does. If we cannot loan any more then we will be buying him, but who we will buy i havent got a clue.

Oh and people calling for Defour, i hope i am not standing corrected but there is a reason why noone wants him. He is a midfielder that isnt first choice for Porto, was bought for buttons and in the scheme of things will be sold for buttons as well. He can't be that good if that is the case! Mounthino went for a hell of a lot more because he was a better player, so Defour will prob be an average midfielder when what we need is a good-great one.

Sod it lets sign Ofoe.

No chance mate. We have money! And with the TV money due that we havnt touched I imagine we'v got a nice tidy sum for Roberto to use.

I think he's been very sensible (kone asside) with his spending. He's taking his first year to really asses what and who he needs. The summer is when we will do a big chunk of business IMO. There could be some big players available come summer and we will need the cash there ready to play.

I have no faith we will have a lot of money to spend in the summer. Our money seems to evaporate we have it one minute then when the next window comes along its gone before we have chance to spend it on players.

Everton have increased the growing Irish contingent at Goodison Park with the signing of 15 year old Irish winger Steven Kinsella to their academy.

The young winger chose Everton over Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur after a personal visit from Everton manager Roberto Martinez.

Everton’s Irish Scout Paul Hamilton was delighted with the deal, he said: “We’ve been working for two years to get Steven over the line, so everybody at the club is naturally delighted,”

Great stuff. Hope he makes the grade.
Must have something about him if all those teams were sniffing about .

So...you're talking to Sherwood,Moyes, Mourhino, and Martinez, and you eventually want to have a chance of getting into the first team....theres only one winner !!

The question regarding midfield recruitment should always start with:

Is he better than Osman?

If yes, sign.

If no, end interest.

Pretty much this should have been our attitude in the window. A loan for a player until the summer at ACM was a priority. We haven't done that and that failure came home to roost last night.

Barkley will be back next week though, why waste what money we have on a player that's guaranteed to be on the bench?

That makes no sense.

It's not wasting money, what if another central midfielder gets injured.

What if barkley gets injured again?

Investing in a player that would make the squad stronger is not a waste.

There's at least 17 more games to play in this season. I would bet big money on us being reliant on Osman again quite a bit between now and May.

A loan signing would fill the vacuum we have in that position.
