Hm - I did consider this when I made my post.

However Mourinho actively went out of his way to say he thought Mata could still be important to Chelsea, but I guess they couldn't turn down 37m with the whole financial fair play rules to stick to. Plus United are very unlikely to be their direct rivals this season, potentially next season neither.

So, what I am saying is, they knowingly sold a very good player - arguably good enough to challenge for a place in their XI - to invest the money elsewhere (I assume a big name striker in the summer) and stick to FFP rules.

I do find it staggering to think they've sold a Chelsea bench warmer for nearly 40m, as that's what he's been all season.
 
Man United are likely to be rivals to Chelsea next season, even if they didn't sell them Mata, as they would have spent a fortune on someone!!

This way, they have an impact on what they do this season.
 
Titus Bramble, not with a club at the moment. Roberto Martinez and Graeme Jones are big fans of him. If the defender crisis gets worst, expect him on a short term pay as you play contract.
 


I think if this club ever signed Bramble on any sort of deal we would know how deep the rabbit hole goes in regards to our finances.

There is a reason he has no club anymore............and his reputation.
