Silly Season January 2014

So Danny Ings, the one season wonder, is now everybody's top pick for January?? Have we gone off Michy Batshuayi, he seemed to everyones 'hes der best striker in der world' shout the other week.

How about, instead of spunking money on a championship wonder, we look for a proven striker who has done it a top level. The difference between the top 4 (and the RS) is the fire power, its where you spend the money because they are special talents that win you games.

Danny Ings is not that special talent that everyone is hoping. And neither is Vellios.

Barry will sign permanently before Friday, allowing us to loan another centre mid.

Sensible really, as we'll have Gibson available next season and Martinez has been talking up Lundstram. Signing a centre mid permanently wouldn't make much sense.

Striker is another matter entirely, though.

My first choice is still Jordan Rhodes.

I would take a gamble om Dani Osvaldo - excellent striker, seen a lot of him playing for Roma. Distin, Jags, Howard and Barry would all keep him in check.

There hasn't been any indication that Barry would sign this month, Martinez keeps saying it'll only be done at the end of the season

Originally RM said we'd wait 'til the end of the season before sitting down and looking at it

Lately there's been a differing line on it - has said that Barry can stay as long as he wants etc

Not remotely "ITK" but putting two and two together would get me there.

Why would Barry sign now? He's on 130k a week at the minute, if he signed now he'd half his wages, he'd lose a quarter of a million quid by June

Nobody said he'd give up any money

The point being that Everton would probably have to pay that money to him if they wanted to sign him now

If they want another body in that badly, it's a viable option

I am sorry but why did the talk of Holtby transfer come along? Why would Spurs sell one of their players to one of their direct competitions for 4th? If they do decide to sell, he won't come in cheap
