Silly Season January 2014

Anybody else sick of the word loan ?

I'm in favour of them, I think they're a great option for a team in our position. They should be used to strengthen an already strong squad, not to be used to compensate severe weaknesses in our team.

We need to sign players on permanent deals or we risk becoming reliant on loans to achieve a half decent season every year.

Its only his second transfer window and its not even closed yet.

He has told us he will use the loan window to freshen things up when possible.

He also said you need a strong permanent spine to the squad but that he doesn't like to spend in January.

Lets just see where we are at come the close of the next transfer window before we groan too much about the loans.

No doubt the club will spin Lukaku's injury as 'a few weeks' but he's going to be miles off - Chelsea aren't going to let that 'asset' be rushed back.

We're crying out for decent players to come in, but just watch these people run the clock down now, having just seen two first teamers crocked in the last five days.

Incredibly this is a window where they are intent on making a profit. It's criminal neglect.

Well one thing is for sure, we hit the glass ceiling again due to lack of squad depth and untill that is addressed we will go through a pack of managers. Some suggest that the king with no clothes is waiting to win something before he sells up but I see him locking himself in the club bogs before he would sell.

'Coming out of the transfer window stronger'.

I dont think so Roberto. Not your fault like, but welcome to Everton Football Club mate.

I hope that fat headed fraud and his staff of attack dogs dont sicken you too much that you spew it and leave us to stew in our own piss.

jelavic out and Traore and Mcgeady in is stronger tbh. even with heitinga out, that's the two main players we wanted off the wage bill going. We do have a stronger squad than what we started with and are still HOPEFULLY adding to that - it's just the injuries that make us look weaker - martinez could hardly compensate for that when he said those words, could he?

They have 2 1/2 days left to keep any form of credibility in my eyes.

Don't get me wrong, they lost my respect and crushed my aspirations years ago, but even the most happy, clappy, Kenwrong loving apologist would have to say enough is enough if they don't back the manager with funds in this window.

We are told they have the money repeatedly, even Greg O'Keefe said this 5 days ago - with the 2 injuries we suffered this week along with the ones he already said he was going to address, I will not accept for 1 minute that Martinez will not be wanting new faces until the summer.

...well, you cant factor those out of the equation. Those injuries to Oviedo and now Lukaku need addressing. Do we seriously hang our chances on the possibility that Traore gets fit and hits the ground running with a string of top performances and goals?

I think the answer to that for the owners is 'yes'. For us it shouldn't be.
