i agree, but nothing is happening atm at all..i would of thought there would be links by now if owt was happening

Transfer deadline day didn't get wind of some deals too far ahead of time either. I think Martinez either has decided it's not worth it, or that he has some irons in the fire for cover. I think it's clear he won't go for something big right now.

All those saying we should be signing Holtby - why?

He plays either wide (where he's less effective) or as a number 10 (where we have Barkley).

Wide players are not an area we need to strengthen and we don't need an expensiveback-up to Barkley

I like Holtby, I don't think he's been given enough opportunities at Spurs, but we simply don't need him - he can't play a holding midfield role which is the area we desperately need.

Competition.

£5m is not expensive...

He could easily fit in on the left hand side, tucking in to let Baines overlap like Pienaar does. £5m for a player of his age and quality is not that expensive

We need a winger, striker, centre midfielder and centre half. Play our cards right and we can cover that with 3 players, by getting a Mirallas type winger who can play up front, a centre half who can play left back, (Bruno M-I), and a centre half. Have a flick through Moyes' old scouting book for thst, loved a jack of all trades did Moyes.

Still think Roberto has something up his sleeve. Hopefully a midfielder and a Heitinga replacement (if he leaves). If this were to come off I'd consider it a great transfer window.

Competition.

1) He's going to cost in excess of £5m, which is money which should first be spent on players we actually need

2) His rumoured wages at Spurs are £70k per week - that would make him our 2nd highest paid player

3) Do you think just because he's a boyhood blue that he'd be happy to come and be a squad player, which is the same position he finds himself in at Spurs?

He could play the mccarthy role if needed i reckon, hes a hard worker too.

70k wages are a sticking point here for sure. Maybe Fulham, Cardiff and whoever pay bigger wages....I think they do....which means they are in the ballpark for players we will avoid for those same reasons.

I am sure that the general wages that would be requested by a player or their agent would be taken into account when we are searching. Therefore....Holtby...70k or close to, no dice!

Would make sense, no? Having said that I am just assuming that some of those other clubs have started to pay higher wages. Maybe I'm wrong.
