Silly Season January 2014

Quite new to the GOT transfer thread.

Is it the norm for someone to throw a random name out there, which is then proceeded by several pages of the pros & cons of signing said player. When in reality that said players name has likely never crossed our managers desk?

Not knocking it like, just trying to get up to speed.
Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride. Meltfest madness is about to start.

which is why an argument can clearly be made for Roberto NOT to spend this January if the players he wants are either not available or are overpriced. As I said in my post just above, half of Roberto's success here at Everton will be determined by his movements in the transfer market.
Totally agree mate. People want us to buy a top striker for big money but look at how much hull spent on jela and long this window

Show of hands now.

How many people would be fuming if we signed a defender at like 5 minutes to deadline tomorrow? Not a striker, or a midfielder but someone like the defenders mentioned?

Call me fussy here but we sold jelavic to give him game time, just to bring another striker in on loan. Admittedly a better one but still a loan (not ours) all the same. We are selling heitinga just to buy a cheap defender in his place, which begs the questions why dont we just keep him to begin with? He will probably be as good as any other one we sign on a budget.

Are we just clearly trying to run the wage bill down? Replace the high earners with lower ones and do it under the guise of 'save it to the summer' when we sign more low wage earners to replace high earning ones?

I would be extremely happy if we signed a defender

Momo Sissoko, I'd take him any day. Good solution for Gibson. He has been out of football for a few months now, but I'd take him. He is still in a good age

I'd love him here as a rotation option. Shame he's not a couple of years younger.

We couldn't afford him if he was I guess but 18 month contract with the option of another 12 months. He'd be ideal against teams we dominate but can't break down. Guile I think it's called

Fulham want rid as well by the look of it

I'll be honest sir. I spent £14 in the Tesco's earlier on sugary treats. All in anticipation for tomorrows deadline day.

This thread should take me to the frenzy state I'm hoping for.

Let's just hope I haven't outspent Bill by close of play tomorrow!
