Am I the only one who thinks that, personnel wise, I actually think we're alright?

With the exception of Lukaku & Oviedo (and obviously Kone & Gibson) we should have a near fully fit squad by a week Saturday at the latest shouldn't we? We will have options again.

We play in the Premier League, even if everyone was fit the squad would still need improving.

The current Everton squad isn't good enough to gain Champions League qualification. It needed adding to before the injury crisis.

spot on mate. far from end of world if we dont, though ofc i want us to strongthen

I genuinely think we could get away with Mirallas as a CF until Traore is fit. It might actually be beneficial for us away to Spurs with McGeady and Del Boy (if fit) either side of him. There's an unreal amount of pace there, perfect for an away game like that.

Its the lack of midfield cover which has me worried. If Barry gets injured then what? Most likely Osman at DM...
I've always wanted to see us try Kev at CF, but his performances in the center recently have got me thinking that it's probably his prefered role when all is said and done. I think him playing off Naismith would probably be best for now.

I just think that the money should be saved 'til the summer, as Martinez has stated before.

I'd honestly take a Europa spot and a trip to Wembley right now if it meant us having a very decent wedge to spend in the summer. Martinez has done great this season but there'll be more to come in the future I'm sure.

Probably best not to get too disappointed of we don't sign anybody, although we are crying out for cover/ first team quality holding midfielder.
We were undone by the RS who played with 7 defenders (inc gk) and 4 quick attackers, Barry unfortunately a is not fast, and never has been, as much as I live him, I hope he is replaced this window, eased into the team and we sign Barry as cover for the "Barry replacement"... This all revolves around "the right character"... A Sami Khedira type midfielder!

I'm beginning to think it's better we do wait until Summer. There'll have to be a lot of purchases to cover the expiring loans.. Deulofeu, Lukaku, Barry, Traore...

Jelavic, Oviedo and Lukaku out though surely? The squad is significantly weaker than it was before injuries and sales, Martinez knows this and he knows tomorrow is the only day of the season he can do anything about it. Its just nonsensical to let it pass without taking action.

I reckon we'll see the smile back on Bobby's face with a boss new signing before tomorrows out.

Cant just sign players permanently due to some injuries...

I'd rather sign youth to bed in for next season now and short term cheap cover.

No sense wasting money.

I don't think we need to take the risk of spending big this january; i'm all for us signing some young / relatively cheap players that will improve the squad and give us added competition but perhaps reassess our squad in the summer when everyone is fully fit. Try and sign Barry and Lukaku on a permanent, get Gerry in for another year and maybe look to sign Martins-Indi and some other high calibre players

Totally agree and would rather sign top quality in summer than waste it now.

Yeah but things go as planned over the weekend and we will be a point off 4th again. It's got to worth a punt on some poor sod desperate to leave his current club if everyone around us, with deeper squads, are bringing in players as well.

Problem is, even though we have struggled heavily with injuries we can't just keep adding players.

Those players injured are still being payed the same amount each week. Like myself and someone mentioned before, the wage bill is a huge issue with our poor revenue.

Even though Moyes/Fellaini/Neville/Anichebe/Mucha have left we have added more players, better quality I might add from last year. So the quote from Martinez saying it is dependent on Heitinga leaving to add more makes complete sense.

It is frustrating but we need to reassess in the summer and go from there, there a few players who are just not good enough.
I much rather wait and build the squad wisely in the summer, like finding a young striker and signing Barry etc.

We have players coming back in the next week so we should hopefully look stronger.
