If we loan another player then we'll get to the end of this season and five of our players will no longer be ours, with the only likely signing being 32 year old Gareth Barry. That's scary in itself.

Which is exactly why the loan system isn't sustainable. You end up inevitably rebuilding your squad every single year, and real life isn't a Football Manager.

...amazing that everything seems to hinge on JH. We should assume he's going to stay, we should assume he's not going to provide any value on the pitch, we should assume we'll be paying his bunce to the end of his contract when he will pocket a wedge from a Bosman. Surely our dealings aren't dependent on one player leaving.

I don't think they are; I think that's the convenient excuse for the board. And don't call me Shirley.

Yeah but I would imagine if we get an excess of loans now it is just a stopgap measure until he does his main spending in the summer, if that happens. So basically the amount of loans now wont be reflective of how we will use this market going forward.

I'm sure in that fan interview he said we would use the loan market when we can to get one or two in and keep the squad fresh, whilst making sure we have a solid base to the squad.

I'm not worried about this in the slightest. Just get somebody in, loan or not.

I'd be more than happy if that was the case but sadly I fear Jack's injuries won't ever clear up.

Well the way i look at it is do you want us to be the club that sells our best players in their prime and buys them back after the team above is finished with them? I know rodwell doesnt exactly apply but it would be the same argument for Fellaini in a few years, or Rooney, or Arteta before he retires etc

Christ almighty who are we, Crystal Palace or something?

Doesn't matter for me who the player plays for, it's how good he is. Lescott from Wolves, Cahill from Millwall.

I personally like McCormack, I can understand why people would disagree but it doesn't mean I'm aiming low, I just think he's a diamond in the rough.
