Silva must go

I know fans are saying, here we go sack another manager. And all the costs that comes with that. But maybe the club have learnt there lessons. In terms of contracts. He only has a 3yrd deal on 3mil a year.

And there could be clauses on him not getting us European football. So I wouldn’t imagine it will be a big pay out if he’s sacked next summer. Next week might different though.
Well that's about 3mil too much. You could take just about anyone off the street and they would have gotten similar results considering we had spent over 400mil in the last 3 years.

I've got to imagine that any manager Everton will approach will be of 1 of 2 scenarios. 1) Either they know it will probably be the end of their club career but they will get paid handsomely or 2) see us as a team that is MASSIVELY underachieving and may be interested in moving them to the next level

The club should now be looking at, and possibly even sounding out, replacements ahead of the summer.

Ideally, Silva will be able to limp along until the end of the season, but I don't see any point in persisting with him beyond then.

There is a lot of sense in this. Brands needs to be constantly evaluating managers who would suit the players bought. You are right this now probably needs tone stepped up a little.

Alongside that managers on a 3 year deal really need to perform in the 2nd year. If it becomes clear he hasn't done enough to earn a new contract, then there's little option but to move them on come the summer.

I'd also say, there's little point in repeating the Koeman situation where you sack someone mid season without a replacement. However how we hire and fire managers really needs looking at.

Mate we are 6 games in - why waste the season bumbling along with Silva when we can sack him before City and try still make something of the season?

Im sick of us having to wait for another season to end before having any hope of doing something the following year. We have 32 games to fight for under a new manager who hopefully has a clue.

We I suppose 2 reasons. Firstly he still has some time to turn it around. Secondly though we may only be able to get the replacement we want at the end of the season. What we can't afford is the farce we had 2 years ago where we end dup with Allardyce.

Most of the managers we'd want to replace him are also 6 games into a season in which they're doubtless heavily invested so they'll need heavily incentivising to break their contract. Their clubs will not let em go willingly and even if the board blow next seasons transfer budget there may not be a sum which would make them reconsider.

So the next manager may not be first, second or even third choice and they may cost far more than would otherwise be the case. Then they come in and can't make any signings till Jan when there's limited availability and a premium on transfer fees.

Unless the wheels fall off completely, or the boarc have an out of work manager in mind, it's probably more rational to give silva time, hope he can turn it round and make preparations for changing at the end of season if that doesn't happen.

We should be all over Mourinho or Wenger who lets not forget has a past relationship with Moshiri.

If not you have the likes of Mancini who manage Italy who will not be a problem negotiating with compared to employed managers at club level.

I see no reason to keep Silva and think we are in freefall mode.

I realisea lot disagree but I honestly think Jose Mourinho would be a terrible appointment. I don't understand how anyone could look at his career and see evidence that he's the right man for the Everton job. Do you think that our situation is in any way comparable to that of Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Chelsea or Man Utd? Do you think that a club looking to build a new stadium can afford his likely transfer budget requirements? Or the potential disruption that he is capable of generating if he's doesn't get his own way? That's not to mention he wouldn't settle in Manchester so what makes you think he will be happen merseyside?

Wenger is too old to take on the project as manager. He could make a good Director of Football, but we have just appointed one of those.

Mancini is an Italian who has won everything at club level bar the CL and is now managing his national side and starting to show results. How likely do you think a former international turning his back on his country to come here?

I get the hankering for an established manager, but none of them come with guarantees. I think the approach, of looking for an up and comer, remains the correct one. So if replacements are being sought, better to look at guys like nagelsman, who will stay for a few years and build from ground up.

Eddie Howe is the man for the job

I presume you are being sarcastic?

I don’t want Eddie Howe in charge, but when you look at both of their careers, Eddie Howe in bringing Bournemouth up from where they where to where to where they are now, is a far bigger achievement than anything this guy has done outside of his season on the super dooper ultra competitive Greek league.

Id say his work at Estoril is very impressive myself.

As I said for anyone saying Mourinho could turn out to be a disaster - after the past few seasons whats the harm in trying?

If it goes well we have a trophy winning manager.

If it doesnt - well its no different to the past 6 years post Moyes.
