Laphroaig 10 for $30 in asda....picked up the Select for $23...hasn't got the lingering afterwards but still got the medicinal qualities

I'm hoping that a few subtle hints is going to ensure Santa brings me this this year.
Ardbeg is the whisky I buy for others who love the Islay malts. I’m not a “peaty” fan myself though I always seem to have a bottle of Lagavulin in, mainly because it gets bought for me and I don’t drink it quickly!, but it and Laphroig seem to be the most popular/ ones people have heard of , so Ardbeg is a bit different and people usually like it.

Laga 16 is probably more comparable to Ardbeg Uigeadail than 10yo. It's pretty rich stuff. Both out of my price range these days, sadly.

Sorry if it's been discussed earlier in the thread, but thoughts on Aberlour 12? It's on 'offer' for £28 in Sainsbury's. Bad deal or worth sampling?
I’m half way through a bottle of Aberlour 12 Double cask matured. Love it , a typical Speyside single malt, I’ll certainly get another when it’s gone. I think I bought it on a whim , the distillery is just off the main road I some times take when heading south and after passing it it was on offer at Tesco’s a few days later. ‘‘Twas a sign to buy!

Are you just dismissing this because it's not peaty? It's a wonderful whisky.

The poster I was responding to asked for a peaty whisky so I went for the safe option anything Islay bar from Bunnahabhain.

Totally agree with the wonderful remark. I have two bottles of the 12 in the house and have just bought the 18. I'm considering completing the set with a bottle of Toiteach A Dha and Stiuireadair to see what the rest of the (reasonably priced) range tastes like.
