Single malts

Bottle 2 from Christmaholica...went aggro on this bottle initially as it's good stuff, need to take it easy from now on.

Have a bottle of Glenfiddich. Single malt unopened was given to me as a present 1986, was wondering if it has any increased value ?

As other have said, likely not much if it's just a standard 12yo bottle as it's produced in mass quantities. Some collector might be interested, for the sake of comparison...not likely to get much of a premium on it, though...whisky doesn't age in the bottle in any appreciable way.

Master Of Malt do a no obligation valuation service, keep meaning to use it for a couple of rums I've got stashed.

Picked this up as my chrimbo malt (i.e. wee dram at 2 in the afternoon watching fillums), thinking it was the 12 - but no, changes afoot in Dufftown and its a 'non year' blended cask job. I was gonna take it back, but for 20 odd quid, what the hell.

Its a perfectly fine, slightly sweet, entry level whisky and most of the remaining amount will form the foundation of my infinity bottle.

#3 for xmas...Campbeltown in the mix again.

#4 I can find little to no information on so I have to assume it's bottled for Total Wine as a house label, so not even worth showing for those over in GMT land but here's a link. Uncle bought this on suggestion (no surprise it's a house label then) from a floor rep. Not bad, not great.

I've just opened the bottle of Ben Bracken Islay Single Malt I was asking opinions of a couple of months back.
A Lidl purchase, £18.99. But for a slighter softer edge to it, I would have swore it was Laphroaig.
Taste not lingering as much as the more expensive product but a worthy purchase nonetheless.

Folks bought me a litre bottle of this for Christmas. Better than any other Jura expressions I’ve tasted. Very caramel-ish. Not as ‘peaty’ as I would normally prefer but a decent dram. Well done parents.
I was lucky enough to find myself being sent to Jura and indeed the distillery to carry out some inspection work. Naturally I bought a bottle and is up there as one of my favourites. The journey from Islay on the small ferry is pretty special.

I would love to tour some of the Scottish distilleries. Been to the Bushmills one in NI and it was ace.

Love love love Springbank, one of my absolute favourites.

My first tour was the Glenturret way back in 1987 when I had no idea about the stuff. Since then through a combination of either working in the places, or staying nearby when in Scotland I've done a great many. My favourite is the Laphroaig tour, done when I did the Jura one I mentioned previous I became a Friend of Laphroaig and gifted a square foot of turf. My most memorable was my Elgin tour. That day there was just myself and a dozen Italian tourists. You're probably aware that as part of your ticket you get a selection of glasses at the completion of your tour. Unbelievable as it sounds the Italian party didn't want their tots. I was therfore able to drink as many of theirs as I could manage. My hotel was a twenty minutes walk away but I think it took me double that.

Was that Glen Moray in Elgin, Glen Elgin is fairly rural?
When we have visitors Mrs Blueloon is always happy to drive back from the distillery if I drive there, one additional whisky at least! As a result I’ve done most of the Speyside ones with decent Visitor Centres. The “ new” Macallan distillery is well worth visiting , a different experience, but not if you like the nostalgia of the odd hiss of steam and drop of water on your neck from an old pipe . I think my favourite tour is Highland Park , not just because it’s my favourite whisky but the malt house , age , surroundings and being on Orkney make it unique. It may be about the only distillery doing tours recently.
