Single malts

Was that Glen Moray in Elgin, Glen Elgin is fairly rural?
When we have visitors Mrs Blueloon is always happy to drive back from the distillery if I drive there, one additional whisky at least! As a result I’ve done most of the Speyside ones with decent Visitor Centres. The “ new” Macallan distillery is well worth visiting , a different experience, but not if you like the nostalgia of the odd hiss of steam and drop of water on your neck from an old pipe . I think my favourite tour is Highland Park , not just because it’s my favourite whisky but the malt house , age , surroundings and being on Orkney make it unique. It may be about the only distillery doing tours recently.
Glen Moray was the one. The journey through the Speyside trail and the aromatics in the air is lovely.

Sainsbury's is ace at the moment, got a bottle of Tullibardine 225 for £25 (normally £45) and a bottle of Ardbeg 10 for £37 at the weekend.
Bought a 225, with 15 quid off was rude to leave it on the shelf.
Its a different one isn't it? You can smell the white wine as soon as you take the stopper out, and yeah, very sweet. Works as a dessert whisky. Well worth 25 quid like.

Glen Moray had a few years of using the distillery as the base/ start of a marathon/ 1/2m / 10km . Lovely big areas and had a thimbleful of Glen Moray at the finish , which tasted surprisingly good after the run , despite an aftertaste of salt , dried spit and sweat:)

Rather you than me. My road running days long gone.

Bottle of Glen Keith Distillery Edition has found its way into my possession.
Looks an interesting bottle in that they are only an occasional product.
Anyone had a tipple?

Funny enough we had drams of Glen Keith as part of our wedding favours. I still have a few of these 5 CL bottles about . My memory is of a typical Speyside malt. For years it seemed to be shut down and being refurbished. I’ve never been to the distillery but Strathisla is literally just around the corner and we had a “ lads day out” with my sons and son in law which included a visit there . It was really good value for a small distillery, StrathIsla is a decent dram too.

Gorgeous distillery...something you'd hold up as an ideal, visually.

Love love love Springbank, one of my absolute favourites.

Was an adventure trying to find this as it's been a while since I saw it and I couldn't remember what version of Springbank was reviewed but you have to watch this review...I was in tears. Watch the whole thing, it's only 6 minutes...'kin hilarious, IMO. No pretense, no horseshizzle like you see in many reviews.

Yes indeed, your cutn paste of my quote missed out I was referring to Glen Keith that I hadn’t visited, Strathisla is the one we visited for a lads day out. Lovely wee distillery with a nice visitors tour and one of the most accessible as its just off the A96 main road between Inverness and Aberdeen. All the usual stuff, friendly staff , nice tour, good chance to do tasting and purchase products.

Oh no, I didn't miss that...was just adding my small tuppence on Strathisla, for those that haven't been there (including me)!
