Single malts

Carrying on with my skint as f drinking, I took a look at Aldi's Highland Black 8 blend weighing in at a hefty £13 a bottle, which is more like the price of a bottle of wine. Well I have to say it's a bloody nice drop and for the money you should all have a bottle as you can swig it liberally without any guilt. Don't just take my word for it though! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...h-Whisky-wins-gold-medal-industry-awards.html

The Lidl Glen Orchy 5yr old blend is bloody good for the money as well.

Coming into single malt season for me.

I rarely ever buy my own, but all my family tend to buy me bottles at Christmas and for my birthday (the week after) so I generally get a good few bottles to work my way through over the following months.

Not had a drop since about August now, and could murder a lovely peaty malt reading this thread again.

Looking at the offers in Tesco the other day:

Cardhu Gold Reserve - £30 down from £42, wasn't crazy about the last bottle of standard Cardhu I had.

Aberfeldy 12 yo, £28 from £35. No idea about this.

Singleton Tailfire £28 from £35 and Spey Cascade, £25 from £33.50. Really like regular Singleton.

Highland Park £26 from £33, always a favourite.

Any thoughts gentlemen?

In my off season down here as we approach Summer...counting on your reviews in here to get me through until Autumn ;)

I really like the Aberfeldy. Wasn't massively impressed with the Tailfire and didn't bother with Cascade. The Cardhu Gold is good but not remarkable and you don't need telling about HP.

I've seen Old Pulteney for £24 somewhere which is a mighty fine drop in my book at that price

Thanks, was leaning towards the Aberfeldy for something new. Think I'll go for that and a Highland Park.
