Single malts

A good mate and fellow Blue(of the Man City variety) bought me a very nice single Islay just before Christmas. He's pretty new to decent whisky Until I bought him a bottle of Glenmorangie for his birthday he thought Jack Daniels with ice was a good drink. He's slowly getting into the pleasures of a good single malt, and wanted to start on the peaty stuff. I'm returning the favour of him buying me a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan and have just ordered him a bottle of Bunnahabhain 12 year old. I've never tried it myself, but I researched the [Poor language removed] out of it, and it's supposed to be the ideal introduction to peated whisky.
Looking forward to trying it with him.
Mate the Bunny is not at all peaty, it's a bloody lovely dram but it's not a true representation of an Islay. Bruchladdich is where it's at. Love that stuff me and by far the best distillery tour I've been on (as long as you're not driving)

did anyone pick up a bottle that aldi were selling the 29 year old before christmas? i got the 28 year old the year before aswell.

cheap at double the price for a whiskey as aged as that.

i love the fact ive got a bottle of whiskey the same age as me :)

In my experience you need to have had a couple of large ones to negotiate the roads of Islay and Jura.

Cheers mate, I'll look into that.

Went to Edinburgh earlier in the week and had an Indian malt called Paul John.

Excellent. Slightly peated, would make an excellent introduction to peaty malts for a novice.

So, best Scotch for a Rusty Nail? Most places recommend a middle to high end blend. Thoughts?
Please don’t use a malt.

Use a good blend.
