Sir Landon Of Donovan

I never said either of those things. Of course we want to support our players. But there has been an odd trend of late to call out the Americans posting in several threads for things completely unrelated to just supporting our players.

Telling us we are off topic
Telling us we blindly support our players coming here because they are American (Yeah, I want every single American that is currently playing on the US team to come to Everton, sure)

It's exhausting. And we are the only ones that are being called out. No one called out the Australians in the three years I have been here. No one calls out the Irish for Coleman. No, it's just us.

And it's usually when we weren't doing anything except supporting some of the best players that play for our national team, not someone like Kyle Beckerman (two points if you know who that is).

It's absolutely tiring, and it gets old. There's been a weird uptick on comments of late - probably due to the LD rumors and Tim Howard's performances.

Oh, and the USMNT is what we call our team. Get over it. That's our acronym. We have a women's team that actually wins some silverware, so it's an acronym that's widely used and is relevant on a football forum. Americans for some reason also love acronyms, so it is what it is.

And you have made a huge generality in the way "Americans" post that is false unless you have somehow gone and counted all of our posts. C'mon man. Really? Has nothing to do with our nationality and I have no idea why you took it there.

That was what I took issue with. You are quite clearly not just speaking for yourself but your American brethren too. I just find it silly to imply that nationality has no effect on how someone views a player's ability, at least in some cases (I said quite clearly at the beginning of my post that obviously not all Americans blindly stick up for their own, yourself included in that... but there are some who seemingly are biased, and it would be the same if the situation was reversed, English playing in America.)

Half of your message is not relevant to what I said at all either. Why would I get 2 points for knowing a **** player? (I do know of him btw, I play FM!) I was simply stating that I believe that there is obvious bias to players coming from your country from some people and to state anything to the contrary would be foolish. That's all. You're very free to disagree, as other Americans may do, I have no problem with it.

Oh, and your acronym... well I've personally barely read anything regarding your oh so hugely successful we win silverware women's football team on this site. As for the US, a nation, needing "national team" on the end of it... well. But don't worry, I'm very much over it.

Fwiw, I hope Donovan comes here, I like him and he fits in well. Not to mention how short we are. Howard, on the other hand...

Bradders. You keep vehemently telling me something that I am not disagreeing with. I have no idea why when I've said I'm agreeing with you. Of course people are biased. But I was giving you context for other posts and other discussions which if you've been on here you will have seen - TX Bill put the beatdown on several posters in this thread several pages ago. People were having this discussion saying that Americans blindly support their players because they are American, that is different from telling me bias exists - so yes, I was using Kyle Beckerman as an example. I honestly have no idea why you are having debate with me about having bias when I haven't said I disagree with it, and I was originally responding to a post in which the poster said he villifies Americans because we go off-topic and made fun of our national team name. That's where I started, and I still find those comments off color.

For some reason yes, Americans' nationality has been brought up a lot lately on this forum. And we end up having this same stupid argument about bias. But why the hell are we freaking discussing Americans supporting their players blindly? Can we just talk about Everton and what national teams people play for?

As for our women's team and using "national team" after our team's name, I was giving you CONTEXT for why we use a freaking acronym. It's the name of our national team, perhaps you could respect it.

Apologies to everyone else who probably finds this debate tedious and annoying. I probably shouldn't have even waded into it since this thread has nothing to do with it, but inevitably there's some knucklehead (in broad terms) that at some point tells me my national team should have 256 goals per player because we play against people who sit on beaches all day and that I think all American players are boss. (Or the person who just neg repped me for my post).

Apologies Bradders for dragging this out, we agree to disagree, and now I'll go back to discussing how great Coleman was against Fulham. Peace out.

I'm about to shoot off to work, but just putting a question out there, how come the Holtby To Everton thread isn't 203 pages long but this is?

Never gets old.

Let's be honest, say you were a basketball fan and followed the NBA because it's better than your own country's, and then the team you've decided to back signs a player from your country, even if it's only for a little bit, clearly you're going to take a special interest in that player and enjoy posting in forums about his current mindstate on the turnaround fastbreak.

Lewis Holtby has never played for us and the only link with him is from a quote that his dad is a Blue.

a) I don't believe you are over it.

b) You should get over it.

c) [pendant] That's not an acronym. [/pendant]

d) USMNT!

Haha, pendant? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendant ??

I'm glad you can read my thoughts, I'm going into acronym rehab now (USMNT is an acronym btw, as is UKMNT [I'm onto something...])

As for Kay, you were the bore the brunt of me being on a drinking binge. I still stand by my points in general though. I get churlish when people act as though people act without bias rather than the actual act of being biased and if I've inferred your meaning incorrectly then my apologies.
