Sir Landon Of Donovan

Not open for further replies.
THT tweeted this morning, he is joining us.

Can you actually post the tweet where he says that cos ive not seen it?!. From what ive seen he's said Moyesy would love to have him and that apparently we had an agreement with the MLS and the L.A. Galaxy in August to sign him and they went back on there word and infuriated Donovan with that and thats why he's thinking of leaving L.A. Galaxy, possibly even retiring?!.

Not seen him say anything about us possibly signing him this month.

Ive seen the tweets now.

I dont get the people who say we dont need him now weve got Mirallas?!. Donovan, even at 30/31, would still be a quality signing IMO. He hasnt lost his pace, he's got quality delivery and he works his socks off and would give us something every week wether its from the start or off the bench!.

Without Mirallas we lack pace and directness and Donovan would add exactly that IF we re-signed either on loan or permanently this month or whenever?!.

thing is, Donovan can play the No. 10 role aswell which would allow us to drop Felli deeper into midfield to play alongside Gibbo when he's fit and have an attacking midfield 3 of Mirallas, Donovan & Pienaar!. that would be a quality midifled 5!.

Can cover 4 positions. Knows the league. Knows Everton. Would cost buttons. Can quite easily play till he is 34/35. You really are an idiot if you dont want Landon Donovan back at Everton FC.

he never stated he is joining us , i spoke to him about an hour ago and he says it was a tongue in cheek tweet . what he did say is if landon fancied moving from the mls we would take him no question . and thats about the size of it

If we signed him he'd give our squad that extra bit of quality upfront/on the right, could make all the difference in the race for 4th.

i think people are putting 2 and 2 together with the lampard rumours and automatically thinking landon is off . but it does seem landon is not very happy with the mls for some reason, wether they have blocked a move for him coming to us in the past or seem to want to hang on to him and he is ready to move on ?

If we get him it will be in December of this year.
His contract runs through this MLS season which is March through November. He will be free ..... if we get him now he will cost something......

Did you see the rest of THT's post? He was supposed to come in August and LA/MLS reneged. It makes me so mad.

That deal going down the way it did also explains a ton about Landon's year.

I suspect he didn't want to come back in February, and LA may have made a deal then: come back to us in March for CCL, we'll let you go in August.

He says ok, but comes back and plays indifferent knowing his heart is elsewhere. He and Bruce Arena have a talk, US team rejuvenates him, he goes on a tear with LA. Come August he's looking forward to his move, and then the rug gets yanked out from underneath him. That leads to his depressed spiral towards the end of the year.

Boy, does this make a ton of sense now (total hypothesis on my part).

It makes me mad for us though thinking of all those games we could have had him in for Naismith - and if we had him maybe Mirallas wouldn't have got injured because we would have had more rotation options.

UGH. For the love of God (and the US national team), just let him go to Everton.
