Gibson injured - Drop Fellaini back, play Donovan AcM
Pienaar injured - Landon's your man.
Jelavic injured/Vic not fit - Donovan can play up top.

IMO and most stateside Landon Donovan has done everything for MLS and LA and you would think is in a possistion to have the right to choose whatever he wants to do. At his age I'd be amazed if they wouldn't do the decent thing and let him have his PL dream (if of course he wants one).

From a EFC point of view, entering the last year of his contract 3M you would think would seal the deal and I can't think of a better player for us at that kind of money!

I repeat what I said in a Previous post. His contract is up in November of this year. If he really wants to be a blue he will sign a contract in the winter tranfer window in 10-11 months.

He will be free and his wages will not be that high at all. If the MLS wanted any money they would sell him now. I think they have concluded that the amount we could pay for him is not enough compared to what he is worth to the MLS . Hold this thread until December when there is no transfer talks with the MLS as he is no longer in contract with them.

With Beckham leaving, Lampard not yet signing, LA not being able to get Kaka due to Real Madrid's ridiculous asks, Arena's comments, THT's posts on the subject, and the lack of news, starting to think this is accurate. By the way - LA's lucrative Time Warner Cable television deal requires a certain amount of DPs to keep the compensation going. Keane alone would not make the cut.

Also, with Landon not retiring from the national team, I'm starting to think he is going to make getting to his last World Cup and helping the National team priority #1. That will be easier for him to do from LA once he returns, LA will be much more willing to give him concessions that we won't be able to (and shouldn't have to).



Bad news for us, but it was good while it lasted.

Course, this could all change as of 1/31. But the lack of any peep is starting to wear on me. As for too late or not too late later - he'll be free, and that's an eternity from now. We'll judge then.
