Moreover, any discounted transfer fee will be used against them in future negotiations on fees for other players - it will set the bar low. His value to MLS in this regard outweighs his value as a footballer based on his age and ability. Whenever two parties value something differently, and both are rational, than a deal can not be made unless someone wants to act irrationally (like us overpaying or MLS letting him go cheaply).

Also remember that if he returns, this year will be his opportunity to become the all-time goal leader (almost guaranteed to happen this year barring something bad), and 2nd in assists all-time (outside shot of becoming #1 all-time, most likely would happen in 2014). No one has come close to those metrics together at his age. No one. That will be a marketing bonanza for the league - they did something similar with Wondo in his quest for most goals in 1 season. LD would be even bigger.

They've gota think of the signal there sending out to other home grown players tho. Keeping a player hostage (if thats the case) from moving on after he's gave most his career to the MLS cause will make players weary of signing long contracts or staying in the MLS earlier in the career's.

Who's had/having the best career Dempsey or Donovan. I'm sure younger players will look at them 2 as indicators of career paths.

Not saying yay or nay here, but they are a business just as much as we are. There is a separate transfer saga going on with Brek Shea right now, though Geoff Cameron, Tim Ream and Roger Espinoza were all sold and more are rumored to be going.

LD has always been a special case, for better or worse.

I'm not going to touch the CD/LD stuff, been done ten times over.
 

Really thought this would happen this window and while of course there's a chance it may still happen Iv gotta say I'm loosing faith that it will.

Say it does, how far away do you think Landon is from starting games?
He's currently in his off season. I would imagine needs 2/3 weeks of conditioning and training then building up some match fitness. Could possibly be march before he could be ready for playing??

Nothing has changed, we do deals late on in the window, always have. If it does happen it probably won't be until the 31st anyway.

And to those who don't want him, I feel sorry for you.
