So, what your saying is that Donovan is nowhere near Cahill standard?
Pretty sure that's what he's saying, and pretty sure a lot of people would agree.

Fair enough, sorry I made him puke
He probably ate too must food mate, you seen The Meaning Of Life? him all over.
Donovan was/is a damn good player, a different player to Cahill, but I think if I had a choice of the two, it'd be Cahill all day long, opinions and all, and a hard comparison, but Tim has another level for us.
Cahill was great in his time, a true Everton great who wore his heart on his sleeve. I happen to think Donovan could offer something similar (albeit for a shorter time). I honestly think he's as talented as Cahill and he gets Everton, hence the comparison.
It's a fair comparison in some ways, ie the getting Everton part. Thing is, he hasn't tried to come over here for us though.
If he'd have wanted to come here he should have done t years ago.....he could have made it happen if he really wanted to.True, his head was messed up. I think a large part of his brake from football may have been down to MLS making it almost impossible for him to transfer from the league. Who knows what went on on either side tho

Hmmm...
If Landon was forcing a move, you'd need...
Galaxy wanting a fair price
Everton being able to afford that price
I don't think it's hard to understand how and why this never happened.
If he'd have wanted it that badly it would have happened..... it would be naive of you to think otherwise mate..... look at The Rat at klanfield now.... he has 3 years left on his contract but I bet he will get his move.
There has to be a buyer with money tho.... Which around both of landons stints we didn't have any! Certainly not the 6M ish they prob would of wanted back when he had his loan spells. Pretty sure his sabbatical was a statement of some kind to the galaxy/MLS.
Anyways that's all past history, looking at this season we'd be a stronger squad with him in it, whether that be in the summer or a morale boost in January picking him up for free. Whether RM fancies him who knows, but I get the feeling he will back when his contract runs out in dec.
Most importantly, it wouldn't be a sentimental signing, anyone watching him for galaxy/USA the last month or so will have seen he's still the same very good player.
Would certainly much rather than the McGeady, dyre's SCHARNER'S (ffs) of this world, we have been linked with recently and his fee or lack of makes it a no brainer in my eyes.
Sell Naismith and we'd even come out of it with a net profit!!
To be honest mate we will never agree on this and will go around in circles for days ha ha, I don't rate him and you do.. let's agree to disagree and move on.
One thing I do agree with though is this thread should be in World Football as he is not an Everton player ...and I don't think that will change in the near future.
But hey, I'm just a guest on here along with you.
He just doesn't strike me as having the drive to fulfill the potential he had.... He's not a poor player by any stretch of the imagination but he should have done a lot more in his career if he's as good as he or others think he is. Who knows what he could have achieved with a bit of ambition.Fair doo's....
I'm astonished you don't rate him tho!
If you feel it will never happen, or Donovan doesn't have the desire to play PL footy, or that he's too old, or even we don't need him, then whilst not agreeing I'd see your point....
But to say you don't rate as a player or that he wouldnt improve our squad at a great fee I'm truly astonished.
Different strokes for different folks I suppose ha ha
