David Moyes has branded allegations that his dithering over his contract to be causing a negative distraction to his side as ´rubbish´
Moyes is out of contract at the end of the season but has refused to make a decision on his future until the end of the season.
Moyes: "I think that's rubbish; We´re still realistically playing for a place in the Champions League."
"Most seasons we've tended to finish sixth, seventh or eighth and if you ask the people who know football they would say that´s about as good as Everton can do,"
"We´ve probably been playing at our maximum for a long time at Everton - foot hard to the pedal - and I'm hoping we can go a wee bit further this season and maybe do better in the FA Cup."

I think this one deserves it's own thread, given the constant debate on the mentality of the side and the inferiority complex we seem to have.

Thoughts?

He's trying to have a pop at the board, without actually having a pop.

You knew the situation, you've put up with it for years, if you're not happy speak up and stop with all the half-arsed remarks. Grow a pair of balls

Hope and maybe. Similar words to those used by Neville before the semi in April.

Sums it up perfectly for me.

I just hope that maybe we can beat a League one side at home on Tuesday.

Very astute. My point precisely.

It's depressing.

Yeah, he might be right in what he's saying, you don't want a manager saying those things.

Do you reckon Bradfords manager at the start of the season said his team couldn't get to Wembley? He probably thought it but I bet he didnt convey it to his team.

I'm getting fed up of Moyes negative mentality to everything.

When SAF plays down expectations it is referred to as reverse psychology, taking pressure of the players and club. When Moyes does something similar it's referred to as small time mentality, lack of ambition etc.

The man is speaking the truth, take of the royal blue specs for a moment and think about it, given our resources it's about as good as we can expect.

Whether or not that is acceptable to the majority of our fan base is irrelevant, it is a statement that reflects reality.

Sadly, in that quote Moyes speaks the unpalatable truth.

I just wish he'd care enough to condemn the reasons why that is the truth, i.e. the board & the ownership of the club, rather than just infuriatingly, blindly, continuously praise the parasites in charge.

The players aren't good enough to finish 4th, and probably not 5th either. You need to be able to beat Chelsea, Arsenal, City to do that you. You also need to win games against the bottom 6 instead of drop points.

Could he be more positive? Yeah, he could lie, it wouldn't change the outcome though. We are where we deserve to be.

Harsh, but painfully true. Getting difficult now.

Except it's not true is it? We're still comfortably one of the top ten clubs in Britain.

It's only true in the minds of those who think football was invented by Sky in 1992, and in the mind of a Scottish manager who hasn't won anything to speak of.
