Good point Joey.
Absolutely no need to feed wild hedgehogs, but if you must, then use cat/dog food NEVER, EVER, bread & milk.

Hedgehogs are never satiated. They are greedy little beasts.
If you leave some strong-smelling cat food out (not fish based/flavoured cat food; fish is bad for hedgehogs) that will attract the beasts and they will eat the cat food AND the slugs in your garden.
Slug pellets are effective in killing slugs, but they are also effective in inflicting illness and death on hedgehogs. Unfortunately, Hedgehogs are prone to eat slugs that have consumed slug pellets.
Thats why saucers of MILD beer for the slugs is a safer way, and boy it works those complaining about slugs put about four deepish saucers so they can get in out - where they see the slime the next night will be surprised the next am when the see how many of the slugs our drowned or so sloshed they cant move, then you kill them with your foot
This sort of benign, helpful conversation would be an utter nightmare if Damo was here.

I don't care for some reson MILD beer is an magnet to slugs tried lager bitter no effect on them - another problem in your garden can occur is cats doing their business in your garden day after day or foxes coming in a great deterrent is your human urine p into a milk bottle, ans sprinkle it in that area late pm they smell that and feel threatened works definitely on cats as they are territorial creatures they never crap on there own doorstep!
Only on your lawn or flower borders be warned the urine will burn your lawn area , but will grow back sprinkle in in a circle where they mess!

Her crop of Kale has been plagued with the little sods... and spraying them with garlic doesn't seem to work.Love slugs me !
