you chaps that have given up smoking ....

what did you use , if anything , to help you quit ? Will power and some sweets.
do you still get cravings ? None whatsoever.
how long did you go before you saw yourself as a proper ex smoker ? I reckon about three months, then you know its gone.
was there any situations which made giving up harder ? ie at the pub etc; probably bevvying but you get over it as the smell from the smoke get noticably worse. You still would like but you know youre better not to.
what was the main benefit from quiting ? I dont wake up coughing, when I get a cold it doesnt take three weeks to shake off, Im a lot fitter and financially better off.

getting this sort of info i hope will help when i give up.

There you go mate. Too many ex smokers try and take the high ground and sound like tits. Its your choice but one that you'll benefit from if you go for it.

2 days 8 hrs 34 mins and counting

Nice one mate, the worst is over there.

Never been a smoker, but have sympathies for them my mate used to drink with me now I wave to him through the window.after smoking for 60 years how is he expected to stop the shock would be worse than smoking.he cant go to the games anymore as he gets nervous at the game when we are hanging on and needs to smoke hence he now sees all games via his laptop so the pub lose the club lose and he loses.what a farce

But people like roy castle dont have to suffer his affliction. It shouldn't mean social leprosy but the greater good is that smoking in confined public places is outlawed.
I don't know a single individual born with a cigarette in their mouth - they chose to take up the filthy habit because they thought it was cool.

Sadly for them, they thought wrong.

to be fair , that outlook can be put to anything

people are not born driving cars either but that doesnt stop people owning machines which pollute and kill , despite the fact they naturally have 2 legs to transport themselves about.

if i had a choice , stand next to a smokers lit cigarette or stand next to a drivers car exhaust ? id take the smoker.

so , if smoking is banned becouse of its 'passive ' threat , then surley cars by the same measure should also be banned ?

The hammer has indeed struck the nail on the preverbial head.

playing devils advocate here, cars aren't driven in closed places, and arguably the problems are compounded in closed areas.

you have a point though, especially because i'm from virginia, the US state with some of the most lax gun laws. absurd!
