The impact of whatever analysis was done, was distinctly invisible in performances on the field.

Was he ignored, or was his analysis useless?

Nice earner for 13 years.

Data analysis is powerful if used right. Would be interesting to see how we were using it.

Interesting as we don't want to stop doing football analysis so concerning.

I wouldnt go as far as concerning. Football is actualy quite a simple game and clubs have been winning things long before it become a thing.
There's a danger imo that people become to reliant on this sort of stuff.

Sobering to see that he would have had the following changes in manager with which to deal:

Frank Lampard31 Jan, 2022Present
Duncan Ferguson18 Jan, 202231 Jan, 2022
Rafael Benitez30 Jun, 202116 Jan, 2022
Carlo Ancelotti23 Dec, 201901 Jun, 2021
Duncan Ferguson05 Dec, 201923 Dec, 2019
Marco Silva31 May, 201805 Dec, 2019
Sam Allardyce30 Nov, 201716 May, 2018
David Unsworth23 Oct, 201730 Nov, 2017
Ronald Koeman14 Jun, 201623 Oct, 2017
Joe Royle12 May, 201614 Jun, 2016
David Unsworth12 May, 201614 Jun, 2016
Roberto Martinez05 Jun, 201312 May, 2016
David Moyes15 Mar, 200205 Jun, 2013

That is a very challenging task for any employee. Nine managers in 13 years (not counting Dunc and Unsy) I wouldn't blame him for quietly doing his job, taking his pay, and having the attitude - "Here's the analysis - do whatever you want with it."

Their hands are tied really (problem of their own making).

You can't replace the squad with no money.

You can only sell your best players to make money...but then you'd have to replace them...chances are with worse players.

Only hope is that they start identifying reasonably-priced talent, like Moyes did, to plug the gap.

Even Patterson, Myko and Alli don't really fit that bill, because they were far from cheap.

We tend to sell or loan our players at a significant loss, which just makes it worse.

I'm fascinated to see who we are in for with Cahill and Thirwell involved.

Tarkowski makes sense - perhaps a continuation of the thinking that got us Gray and Townsend - bargain bin.

Would definitely be nothing more than scapegoating if any blame were thrown his way.

When you see it in black and white like that, really brings it home what an effin shambles we are.

Unbelievable, hard to fathom how those at the top of of our Club don't or won't acknowledge it.

Baffling.

You wouldnt think so. Fella only did stats at the end of the day.
What i would like to think is happening is thelwell has looked at started showing people the door. Wether it be cost cutting. But with unsworth going i tend to think it isnt.
Something brands never did. Lots of opinions on brands it seems. I can only look out how unbalanced the squad was under him. Even if people go down the road moshri was making decisions he still sat and took the money for 3 years. The argument who wouldnt then doesnt change what was the point of him. Actualy makes it worse.
Blame game is pointless now anyway. Id rather just see things being attempted to put right. One being the academy started to provide the first team more. Surely its only function.

Have you listened to the latest bullens Road podcast? But at the ends interesting about Brands, an how he didn’t get on with Carlo, Duncan and Benitez and Moshiri has more agents in his ear then just Kia
