Me 100%

I've said it multiple times he's a Championship player at best.

I haven't questioned his effort/attitude, just my opinion that he isn't good enough technically/physically

Today, I posted in his thread, that was a proper "Everton performance" from him. Full of graft, energy, workrate, discipline, tactically superb, finishing superb, didn't stop, great finishing, looked dangerous all game but the 2nd half for me defensively was just as key. It was as good as he was earlier in the season against Leeds away where he was defensively grafting.

Well done to him, absolutely stupendous today and deserves all the plaudits.

He's only good because we all slagged him off so keep at it so he bags a hatty against Wolves
He got a hat trick tonight, two straight puts and a well played snooker shot in off the ‘keeper, he knew what he was doing, if he plays like that against City, Pep will want him for next season maybe in a straight swop for Haaland!!

I think the comments about him earlier in the season we well warranted. he wasn't performing. however his workrate has improved under dyche. or maybe dyche allowed his work to shine. he is playing very well and deserves his starting spot.

He was rubbish in his last season at Burnley. He was even worse when he joined us. The improvement is baffling and on a scale I can't remember with many other players. Very happy to be proven wrong. Long may it continue.

Very GOT thread this. Not about Mcniell but Everton in general. We can be stale for 10 months. 1 or 2 performances and it suddenly wipes out the stale 10 months. I was going to say there is no consistency with Everton but thats not actually true. We're consistently poor. Got to get away from this.

Exactly this; every player in that starting 11 has had patches on consistency and “looking good”. People go from 0 to 100, think they’re world beaters and declare them demi-gods.

We’ve been in 2 relegation battles in 2 years because these players are not very good

Why do only left footed players get criticised for one-footedness?
Just a coincidence tbh, James and McNeil are the most one footed players I’ve seen play for us - happy to hear some right footed examples too!

Also, left foot players can be described as having ‘a wand of a left foot’ (think Baines, Sheedy, James, Bily, Digne) but why have I never heard anyone have a wand of a right foot?

People weren't wrong though. Before dyche come in he was beyond awful, he was awful last season for Burnley as well so can see why people questioned the signing.

Been great since dyche came in, and yesterday was probably the best individual display I've seen from an Everton player all season
