for me i couldnt have asked for a worse way to give up the fight for 4th.
im not going to take anything away from southampton becouse i beleive they showed everything we lacked.
grit energy determination pace flair movement.

i would now also say that a few on that pitch were a disgrace to the shirt.
lukaku - just what the hell was that ?? id rather have anichebe or vellios trying atleast than somebody plodding about showing no pace no skill no drive and even lacking the ability to trap a ball and bring it under control. there was one point he couldnt even run 5 metres with the ball unchallenged without losing control of it. i wouldnt pay 2 million for a player who performs like that in such an important game let alone 20 .

alcaraz -no ifs or buts him and kone have stole a wage for 9 months. we would have been better off with anichebe and duffy to choose from. to me he looked like a player whos career is dead and he should be in the american mls.

barry - for me today showed why we shouldnt sign him permanantly. looked like a player past his best who had just eaten 10 pork pies so couldnt move much. he didnt know who to pick up , was way behind the pace and basically turned into a snide becouse he couldnt hack the pressure.

deulofeu - total dross .. no end product, runs as if he just expects people not to even attempt to tackle him. id choose mcgeady over him every day of the week.

today those 4 stank more than most . and i dont see why we would want any of them to stay if they have and show so little heart when it mattered.

Spot on that, you can't rely on the younger lads to be top notch every week. Got to look towards the more experienced players to drag you through games like today which we were missing.
I know it's not Lukaku's game to be a target man who can hold it up but he's got to add a bit of it to his game as sometimes we desperately need it. You look at him and Lambert today (also a vast difference in experience) and he was getting the ball, keeping hold if it and allowing players to get up the pitch. Lukaku seems to play constantly like he has to go into full attack mode when he gets the ball.
Lambert is a really underated striker imo, lots of people seem to think of him as a scouse Andy Caroll. He is much better at hold up play and general skill on the ball, hope he goes to Brazil especially as his link up play with Lallana is great.

As much as it pains me, we were second to every ball today. The two own goals are by the by, freak occurrence but enough for Southampton. No more to be said.
What concerns me most is that the players are well aware that today's match was a must win to have any chance of securing Champions league and nobody on that pitch seemed to be interested. I'm sure it was a culmination of things and not just half assedness on their part but, F me!
We are not going to get Champions league and I for one am so p1ssed off about that. Palace and Southampton, sandwiched in between arsenal and Utd? Who'd have thought it? I know what my bankers would have been but evidently not....
Europe league here we come and let's hope we have the bo11ox to at least have a crank at that.
Sorry for the negativity but I'm just so deflated...
Thats what concerned me mate no fight just like the arsenal game in the cup. Just no fight no desire no urgency to win the game players look like they couldn't even be botherd throwing a tackle in and standing of them.

You're not the soundest guy around are you?

Arsenal Mike, don't embarrass yourself, we were top of the league for about 4months of the season and now we are back to Groundhog day of scrapping for the virtual trophy. It's not something to be happy about. The FA cup final will only redeem us if win it.....and before you get carried away with that mate, remember Birmingham.
Living proof all teams have supporters that can be d**k heads.

It was an odd game, the tempo never really got gong. Your players didn't seem to have the energy you've had the last few weeks.

I wouldn't be that down on Barkley, he's only 20.

It's not over yet but unfortunately it means you have to hope your scummy neighbours win the league tomorrow, leaving the blue Mancs with nothing to play for.

Pardew will not want to be the toon manager that loses 6 in a row, so what with him and Wenger not liking each other, I can see that being a dirty draw, with Tiote taking Ramsey/Carzola/Ozil out. Knowing him probably all 3.

Good luck lads, as I've said before, I' d still prefer Everton get 4th so we can get some form of regime change because at the moment it looks like he's signing the contract and we will just continue to be 4th spot fannies.

Funny how all the folks who can't be arsed to converse on here all week come on and have a rip on match day...GTF
Having a go at people who have a go on match days only is just like having a go at people who only have a go at people who only come on here and have a go on match days - unless we win and then they will still have a go at Ossie and then you will have a go cause they always pick on Ossie.

Oh, to have an opinion.

For players of such value Lukaku,Barkley and Del were awful today, too many players off their game on the same day pointed to that defeat. It's done so we move on and turn it round in the final two.

Now this guy, well he is quite sound.

Don't know if losing to city would stop Liverpool winning the league but if it was nailed on then I would sacrifice one game and even a league position (5th to 6th) to stop them bleating about it for years to come. In a few years time I don't think anyone would look back and care if we had finished 5th or 6th because its still nowt in the trophy cabinet. Different matter if it was to cost us 4th place but its not.

Yeah, exactly.

I find it hard to understand how a performance like that against Utd can be a prequel to today's atrocity. It's like a totally different team mentality.
I can't pin the blame on anyone person, it was just a total lack of cohesion and effort to be fair.
Not gonna change a thing about this season, still think it's been an amazing turnaround and I'm so excited for next season but just hoped for a little more....maybe I'm just greedy?

If we moved on we would have nothing to moan about, keep posting, if we moan enough someone might listen?????
