Newcastle are decent and on a good run whilst being at home.
Saints have 1 defeat in 10 before today whilst being at home.

Telling me those two games were worse than a Watford (H), the Liverpool game, the Norwich (A) then you're wuming your face off.
You telling me Newcastle are decent is you wumming your face off mate. Southampton are a team that go on runs, both poor and good. They are not a particularly good side.

How about I rephrase: Newcastle and Southampton were every bit as bad as the games against Norwich, Watford and Liverpool. If either Newcastle or Southampton REALLY went for it, we would be talking cricket scores.

The issue is that we were always terrible under Benitez; Lampard needs to find a way of getting consistency out of these lads to avoid the drop (and I don't believe they have it in them), as he has delivered our 2 best performances of the season and 2 of the worst.

When you flip-flop like that you are likely to go down as our best possible performances are still unlikely to result in points against top sides as we are an awful one.

As I said, it is Benitez who put us here. Even with injuries and a poor squad, I think you would be hard pushed to find a manager who managed that run from September. It's astoundingly bad. And in true Benitez fashion, the only game we won came from two long-shots from Gray - the Benitez hallmark going back to his Liverpool days.

I know that the majority of you won't want to hear this but today's result was so inevitable that its almost irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. The truth is that our wretched side simply aren't capable of winning away from home unless they do it via a massive fluke. Our survival this season totally and utterly depends on our remaining home games. I have more belief that we can nick a point next week against Man City then I was today. It is what it is folks, we've just got to try and get results at home and hope for the odd point on the road.
Sensible comment ?

Also loads slag the team off, but don’t even come up with there own solution, if you hadn’t realised a majority of our best player are injured. Meaning we have to play Keane and Holgate, then bring on Gomes. Play a RB at LB. I don’t believe there was even a midfield option other than Gomes to come on. Yes perhaps they should try harder, but some fans are just so negative if that’s the vibe the players get no wonder they under perform. Any I’m out of here until the next one, I have a life and have other interests bar football take care all.

Yeah...apart from the positive hope I shared above, It's true, we should have
Mina-Godfrey-Digne (I know but it's bad management to have let him go)
We should have Doucoure-Allan-DVDB in midfield.

So 3 players missing, and 3-4 squad players should be there who have not been bought yet!

Newcastle have 3 wins and 3 draws in their last 6 games. Go do a bit of research before you spout rubbish.

We need to start picking up the odd point on the road.

Watford and Burnley both play midweek. We need them to lose.

We then have City at home and Spurs Away.

You can be good but not play good. On paper our side should be beating theirs and I don't know why that's so hard to understand.
You need some realisation that our team is terrible. Players who should be great or better on paper are just not better. Each one is a weak link when they play in a team game much the same way they are a strength when they play together. A team with better individual players doesn't lose as often as we have. Sooner fans wake up to how bad these better players are and their lack of teamwork the sooner the reality will sink in

Couldn’t muster a single shot on target.

The difference from 7 days ago, playing the same 11 is very alarming.

Massive space in between the back four and midfield. We simply did not do our homework on Southampton. With the ball we were awful, but off it was worse. Without the ball we were all over the place, slow and with city next up when we wont have the ball and playing the most attacking side this league has seen, I fear that goal difference we have slightly in our favour will take a hammering.

People saying its a tough game need to give their heads a wobble and look at the next 2 fixtures. And then they need to consider that Burnley just won a 'tougher' game 3 nil. Absolute garbage today and the manager doesn't seem to be any better than the previous ones.
well, I absolutely love this, now 3 games are just enough to make a statement like that,
and with Big Dunc one was enough
