Cannot even begin to comprehend how they possibly calculated the length of a day of a "new" planet/star that is 64 light years away.

This is a boss thread, so glad I stumbled upon it
How long it takes to orbit around it's sun/star is usually how it's determined, and I don't even think that is so hard tbf.

There's a lot of big-ass equations involved though.

Anyone ITK enough to recommend a scope for my grandson who loves this subject. ( he is 5).

60-70mm refractor would probably be your best bet, probably the easiest to get started with. You'll be able to see the rings of Saturn with that, the orion nebular, star clusters and the Andromeda galaxy and much more.

They're probably more expensive than a reflector telescope though and you do get a bigger aperture for your money with a reflector too, but you normally get a crisper image with a refractor.

Thought the film was really good...save the ending. What I meant is that space seems like a shyte place to be if you are human. Seems like it might be safer to dodge cars on a busy motorway.

Never. At least if you've made it to space you know you've made it in life and are one of a select few.

I would rather go to space than receive a million £.
