1. The attention is already there, they sponsor Hull City.

2. We do need the money. You may notice, Moshiri isn't bankrolling the club, he is pulling money into the club through sponsorships.

3. Who cares?

Next?
And we are bringing more attention to it.

And an African betting company no one has heard of is going to bring us some mega bank is it?

Myself and all the Evertonians who would like our club to display a bit of class, and who don't want to pay a fortune for a shirt which looks utterly crap.

Why is any of that relevant?

Why is it at all important to have a company that loads of people know?

To create a shirt that perhaps people would want to buy? Imagine having a decent sponsor on the front, random fans especially overseas are more willing to buy said shirt than if it has something daft like sportspesa on the front.

More shirt sales = bigger exposure overseas = more people know who everton are.

Iceland, Home AND Bargain?

As long as their money is good, it's a big increase on Chang it doesn't matter who it is.

fixed ;)

Ok not any brand people may know, but something a bit better than who we are meant to be getting

what the hell does that matter?!
honestly all that should matter is how much loot they're giving us. well that and not be a completely nasty corporation like coca-cola or a weapons manufacturer

But then if coca cola offered us 40 million a year then would the money not matter then over choosing an 'evil' corporation?

I just think that there is benefits to having a well known branding or at least something that would sell shirts as mentioned above.

It's sad but no surprise. Money is what regulates enjoyment these days. Not monarchy, religion, ideology etc.

Firstly they're a betting company, with all that's in the news about gambling and its links to football I think it's poor taste to bring attention to another lot.

Secondly we don't exactly need the money, I understand football is a business but why not bring attention to something positive such as EITC rather than a betting firm

Thirdly their logo is crap.

1) Did anyone moan when John Moores, famous for bringing gambling to the masses, was bankrolling us? Are we saying gambling is worse than alcohol? If not, did we complain about Chang for moral reasons?

2) Yes we do. Commercial deals are the most important issue to us to enable us to increase our FFFP and STCC constraints

3) Won't argue with that

Define "mainstream" sponsor and then explain why it's preferable to have a "mainstream" sponsor. Their money is worth exactly the same as anyone else's

Just my opinion of course, one criteria would be a sponsor that has brand recognition, whether domestically, globally, or both, or has general recognition within their area of business. Gambling and payday loan companies just feel like dregs in the market on that front, with gambling sponsorship being ten a penny in the PL.

I know folk will counter with the argument that companies venture into sponsorship to gain such recognition and brand awareness, but it's just more the feel of this for me, that its in the 2nd tier as far as levels of prestige go. If it genuinely represents the best we can do at this point in time, fair enough.

The amount of clubs with gambling sponsorship must be more than mere coincidence. It seems like a ready made market, and I'm not knocking the club if they have secured a decent increase in the payments, just that it does not seem to be anything to get particularly excited about.

you really think someone is gonna buy a shirt cos we have a well known corporation on the front? all them chevrolet fans splashing out on man united shirts!

So you've done a survey of all Evertonians? Must have missed mine.

Reported figure of £75m for the shirt sponsorship and Finch Farm sponsorship. Chang, £16m. That's a massive increase. Moshiri has played a blinder.

you are looking at it from a narrow perspective.

It isn't the point of who specifically it is on the front but more it is a brand that is recognisable. For your average fan, for your non fans even who fancy buying a 'soccer' shirt but don't want to buy a united one. Point is, if 100 people walked into a sports shop in america and picked up an everton top then 100 more people are aware of the club. Shirt sales overseas would make a massive difference over time and ideally we want to be selling shirts. If we can't get the big sponsor yet then get the one that goes with the shirt and look to make it stand out in a good way.

My lad won't wear anything except football shirts at the minute

All he wants is the European teams he knows - PSG, Bayern Munich, Barca, Real Madrid, Juve, AC Milan etc etc etc

On not one occasion has the subject of who sponsors them been raised

Our profile will be raised by us winning stuff and playing in Europe - I would venture that the sponsor on the front of the shirt will have next to no impact on someone's choice to buy a shirt

ahh but that is the difference i think you miss. Over here Football is the main sport and there is far more knowledge about teams and whatnot. Whereas iwould guess a good proportion of baseball caps, basketball jerseys and the like are sold over here based on looks rather than the team they are, not all but enough. So switch it around, random nice soccer top in america, people recognise it as everton, perhaps catch a game or two out of interest and it is the seeds for brand growth overseas.

I am not saying it would be the answer to marketing overseas but it would help. When you compare it to Thailand who advertised Leicester mainly over there despite us being the leading sponsored club for years?

the same as shirt maker comes into effect. People want a adidas or nike top, not a fila or le coq sportif top (unless they are fashionable now with the kids?)

Being a massive betting company in Africa they are for all intents and purposes scamming/robbing Africans, so I'd like to think it's Everton's way of starting the fight back against all them phishing and jarg phone service Africans trying to rob our olds.

Up Everton. Give us all the monies. You can have Kone right back too.

To be perfectly honest, out of those clubs you mention above, I have just spent a couple of minutes thinking about it, and Barca and Milan are the only ones where I could name the sponsor with 100% conviction (and my son has got a psg, bayern and real shirt). I will google the real madrid shirt sponsor in a minute and will think "of course it is" , but off hand I honestly can't name their sponsor (I have a feeling it is emirates though)

I may be the odd one out, but I really don't think people will buy, or refuse to buy, a shirt because of the sponsor

Maybe read the part where it says all THE Evertonians. Some things should be more important than just money. Way the worlds gone though I guess.
