Well I'm saying that the rules should be changed so yes there is not currently one but that's sort of the issue.
To me very rarely is a player doing something intentionally dangerous. Most red cards for bad tackles the intent is mostly to win the ball. Not always but mostly. It can still be red without intent. Same with these imo.
Personally think it is serious foul play in the same way a studs up tackle is.Here's the current rules:
A player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following offences:
I wouldn't call backing out of an aerial challenge as either serious foul play or violent conduct.
- S1 is guilty of serious foul play
- S2 is guilty of violent conduct
- S3 spits at an opponent or any other person
- S4 denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
- S5 denies an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
- S6 uses offensive, insulting or abusive language
- S7 receives a second blue/yellow card in the same match
Yes, dangerous injuries can come from this type of challenge but unless the intent is there then it should just be considered an unfortunate accident.
Once the intent is to play the man and not the ball then you have serious foul play as the intent is to commit the foul which could potentially seriously injure someone.
You see dangerous injuries from collisions for 50-50s on the ground sometimes they're red cards and sometimes they're accidents. These aerials duels are the same and have to be judged within context just as those on the ground are.
Ive seen it said on here a few times that Spurs are a club Everton should try to emulate, so if they were to somehow continue to compete with much richer Man City and your neighbours Liverpool, the best team in the country, I’m sure more of you will begrudgingly also want Spurs to do so.
F...
That video shows just how dangerous it can be so I agree with @TheBigIguana, it should be made a straight red card offence.
Just imagining him going mano a manager with fat Ashley Williams. He'd have been totally Christopher Reeved. If anything he's proved what a brave lad he is, he's potentially sacrificing his own well being if one of these lumps falls on him. Maybe we throw a bid in during the January window and try and unsettle him with the offer of top 10 finishes and a good rest as he doesn't have to travel round Europe playing.
Intent isn't a consideration when a guy goes in studs up for the ball I don't think so why should it apply here? I just think it should be a pretty black and white rule to protect players. If it's a choice between you and the RS then fine. I personally think we would all like Spurs more if we didn't have you lot posting on here
It leads to a nasty ending but the intent is totally missing with Gomes. This is what I mean, players will get injured on a football pitch but when that happens it should be by accident and not on purpose.

I haven't put nearly enough though into it to know exactly how it should go but I feel confident saying doing nothing isn't the answer and that it is dangerous enough to need real consequences for doing it.Momentum is a beeyatch. Player x could stop miles before the ball and player and then still end up up ending said player without really doing anything wrong. That said if they were all red cards then we know the player has a responsibility to move out of the way if not challenging for the ball.
Whats the main reason for a spurs fan coming on a everton forum trying to sell his team to us?
i struggle to think of a scnario that i would do anything like it
