couldn't agree more - the "not that type of player" line thrown out with Kane is absolutely vile

I can only assume it's because he's England Captain, as absurd as that sounds. His image protected.

Someone with an injury record like his you would think wouldn't resort to deliberate acts to injure.

I have more of an issue with the backing in thing he seems to do, there are numerous examples of that where you can actually see him looking to see where the player is first, the he will start to back in and bend forward meaning the other player goes right over the top of him. He is going to break an opponents neck at some point. He knows exactly what he is doing.

There has always been this idea that the England captain has to be treated differently.

I always remember talksport with Adrian Durham saying things like John Terry shouldn't be suspended or sent off as England captain. Essentially outwardly cheerleading for inequality in how the game is reffed.

That continued with Gerrard. It now continues with Kane.

All of them are spiteful pieces of work, and the English accept it, because we have this bizarre deference to authority.
