Squad Assessment going into the Summer

This will not happen under moyes. he has proved over the last 10 years the stlye he prefers. people go on about how we used to play good football, i can only remember 1 half season when our football was of an excceptable level. and even then we bottled it at anfield went all hoof ball and lost to a 10 man liverpool team. in the so called glory years we played some great football in very small patches, but it was usually mixed in with a lot of hoof ball. i had a quick look into some archive match threads and we are pretty much saying the same then as now.

To be fair he had has playing some really nice football a couple of years ago. Its just the past few seasons where he has gone maddeningly negative in his outlook.

I might be looking through moyes tinted specs but I really do believe he will change our style next season permitting he can add a few faces ie our loans or others.

I think loosing pienaar and arteta completely made him re-think our play for this season and go back to what he believes is affective football for getting points to stay in the PL.


It's been awful, But I think the stick he's had this year will hurt. If he can bring a few in, bring a few along and we still play like we have this season then I may finally turn on him!

I agree we have played decent stuff under Moyes. But this season and last season he's gone a bit nuts.

I'd agree we have played nice football up until the last couple of years. At that point we were always lacking a player or two.

I'd love us switch to more of a 4-3-3 especially at home next season. Obviously would have to sort are wingers out. Ie signing drenthe and another, would love Donovan on a perm. Set up like arsenal basically.

Great squad option and that team could play football!!

Really love the look of that team!

Sadly I think it'd leak a few goals, there's two attacking full backs to compliment the wingers, I could see lots of goals going both ways in games like that. Which would be nice for the armchair fan like myself!

Yeah I don't think we could play that team week in week out against the likes of city utd away ect. In those games people like Gibson and/or rodwell may have to come in but as much as I don't agree with the over the top criticism moyes gets I do believe he needs to change his mindset for home games against the poorer teams.

Osman might not be the biggest or fastest and he can't shoot but he puts a shift in every game and his ball control, passing and ball retention is probably the best at the club alongside Pienaar. Plus he doesn't need to tackle when used behind the striker. David Silva can't. He should be in our starting 11 every week so to suggest he's an abomination of a Premier League footballer is so wrong.

He's effective further up the pitch off a striker, in a free role with space.

As a central midfielder in the middle of everything...no, he's not cut of for it IMO.

So he can only play 1 position for me...and that's off a striker.

Which is essentially what he was doing years ago when Carsley had all the defending, tackling and workrate duties covered for the whole midfield. Moyes has a bad goldfish memory.

Osman reminded me last night why if he's playing next season we will have had a poor summer. Nothing against the guy as a squad player anything more shows the lack of quality in our team.
