Squad Assessment going into the Summer

Well I'd like to add Gueye doesn't look very very average, he looks devoid of confidence.
When he's looked confident, he's looked very promising but I think a few dodgy subs with 15mins to go whilst being comfortably beat have taken their toll. Different player in the ressies, full of nice touches and a fantastic left peg on him. It's not about the level so much, he just seems to freeze and lay it backward in the first team.

Probably one of the best crossers of the ball we have from what ive seen

Get Baz Rathbone back, get Alan Irvine as assistant and F*** Steve Round off. Been physically out of shape and more injuries, and increasingly negative ever since Round arrived.

Think Reidy should come in myself. Put some pride into the players with someone whos won something as a player

Agree with this. Osman is a good, solid, well rounded player. I guess that's down to the great coaching and guidance he has had from Everton. That's why he's played at the top level for 7 years straight. He has quality.

I can well remember watching Reid, Bracewell, Parkinson even, run/dominate a midfield with aggression and skill. Didin't realise we needed a ****ing useless midget at the time and these lads had it wrong....

coleman will never be a rb always gives pens away even brentford.

A couple of Atletico Madrid mates of mine said the same thing about Heitinga when we signed him, that he was a liability for penalties. Suppose it's down to how they're coached. If he was giving away pens he'd soon have it drummed out of him.

What the ****'s his size got to do with anything?

NO KENWRONG STOP TRYING TO SIGN MESSI GET ZIGIC INSTEAD FFS!

Football is all about opinions so I will certainly respect yours Slimspek...although in my opinion most of it is a load of tosh. Pienaar has not end product? Based on what exactly? The games since hes been back? For starters he cant get any continuity because he has to be dropped for every FA Cup game. Before transfer deadline day he barely played. You can hardly expect the lad to be ridiculously good for every minute of every game. He makes us better, fact. He makes Baines better, fact. He HAS end product, fact.
What exactly are you basing the fact that Vellios has 'major potential' on? If he did, he'd be on the bench at least. He doesn't, Moyes has said as much in that he is a very raw talent, and unlikely to ever deliver consistently in the hardest league in the world. He, like the Gueyes and the Colemans, are cost-effective (of course as we wouldnt have afforded them if they were not) and give us effort, endeavour and honesty. Seamus Coleman wears his heart on his sleeve and gives his all. It great to see. unfortunately it will means that with these types of players, because of what has happened with the foreign take-overs in the last few years, we will always hit the glass ceiling of 7th/8th/9th. This type of position in the league is respectable and should not be viewed as a failure.
Why do we need to give Garbutt game time? When? How? The lad isnt even on the fringes of the first team yet and will most likely spend years on loan, like Duffy and Baxter, before we see anything of him.
Again, im not disrespecting your opinions, they are valid just as much as mine, but other points id probably disagree/comment on:
Distin - he is the best athlete at the club. He has easily got another 2 years in him if he continues to dedicate himself into looking after his body.
Barkley - Disappeared because he got injured but also because hes 18 and should not be put in the spotlight. Youll see more of him in the coming weeks im sure as Moyesy stated on the OS.
What is the obsession with players over 30 being past their best? Osman, Pienaar, Neville, Cahill all provide us with a degree of experience which is VITAL and without them we would be alot further down the league in my opinion.
We need to be realistic this summer, we are unlikely to have much money at all. I would probably see Rodwell (probably to Spurs/Chelsea) as the one who can boost our transfer kitty. My first 2 signings would be Donovan and Pienaar but im sure some would no doubt disagree.

Totally agree with you about Drenthe, would look to see him signed up, but with the wage issue I doubt we'll see it.

I'd love us switch to more of a 4-3-3 especially at home next season. Obviously would have to sort are wingers out. Ie signing drenthe and another, would love Donovan on a perm. Set up like arsenal basically.

Great squad option and that team could play football!!

433 you say? David Moyes you say?

Hmmmm

I would like this too. I like that team you put there a lot. I just can't see us doing it.

I'd settle for an attractive football style next season. Yeah we'd concede more, but also we'd score more. Especially with Jelavic. Really feel if we gave him chances he'd score loads.

This will not happen under moyes. he has proved over the last 10 years the stlye he prefers. people go on about how we used to play good football, i can only remember 1 half season when our football was of an excceptable level. and even then we bottled it at anfield went all hoof ball and lost to a 10 man liverpool team. in the so called glory years we played some great football in very small patches, but it was usually mixed in with a lot of hoof ball. i had a quick look into some archive match threads and we are pretty much saying the same then as now.

I might be looking through moyes tinted specs but I really do believe he will change our style next season permitting he can add a few faces ie our loans or others.

I think loosing pienaar and arteta completely made him re-think our play for this season and go back to what he believes is affective football for getting points to stay in the PL.

It's been awful, But I think the stick he's had this year will hurt. If he can bring a few in, bring a few along and we still play like we have this season then I may finally turn on him!
