Football is all about opinions so I will certainly respect yours Slimspek...although in my opinion most of it is a load of tosh. Pienaar has not end product? Based on what exactly? The games since hes been back? For starters he cant get any continuity because he has to be dropped for every FA Cup game. Before transfer deadline day he barely played. You can hardly expect the lad to be ridiculously good for every minute of every game. He makes us better, fact. He makes Baines better, fact. He HAS end product, fact.
What exactly are you basing the fact that Vellios has 'major potential' on? If he did, he'd be on the bench at least. He doesn't, Moyes has said as much in that he is a very raw talent, and unlikely to ever deliver consistently in the hardest league in the world. He, like the Gueyes and the Colemans, are cost-effective (of course as we wouldnt have afforded them if they were not) and give us effort, endeavour and honesty. Seamus Coleman wears his heart on his sleeve and gives his all. It great to see. unfortunately it will means that with these types of players, because of what has happened with the foreign take-overs in the last few years, we will always hit the glass ceiling of 7th/8th/9th. This type of position in the league is respectable and should not be viewed as a failure.
Why do we need to give Garbutt game time? When? How? The lad isnt even on the fringes of the first team yet and will most likely spend years on loan, like Duffy and Baxter, before we see anything of him.
Again, im not disrespecting your opinions, they are valid just as much as mine, but other points id probably disagree/comment on:
Distin - he is the best athlete at the club. He has easily got another 2 years in him if he continues to dedicate himself into looking after his body.
Barkley - Disappeared because he got injured but also because hes 18 and should not be put in the spotlight. Youll see more of him in the coming weeks im sure as Moyesy stated on the OS.
What is the obsession with players over 30 being past their best? Osman, Pienaar, Neville, Cahill all provide us with a degree of experience which is VITAL and without them we would be alot further down the league in my opinion.
We need to be realistic this summer, we are unlikely to have much money at all. I would probably see Rodwell (probably to Spurs/Chelsea) as the one who can boost our transfer kitty. My first 2 signings would be Donovan and Pienaar but im sure some would no doubt disagree.
Totally agree with you about Drenthe, would look to see him signed up, but with the wage issue I doubt we'll see it.
