To create chances you need to be a front foot team. How can we play on the front foot when we have such a slow defence who's instinct is to scamper back at a rate of noughts and concede 40 yards without making a challenge???

Our issues are in defence and central midfield. If you are a forward in a team who defend woefully on the back foot, and a team with 2 useless midfielders who can't tackle, can't run, and instinctively look to knock the ball back to their own goalkeeper, then how are you expected to showcase your full talents?

i think the idea with playing Rennes was a yardstick moment for Silva to compare us now with a similar finishing equivalent team from another league, 5th in top french league. However they have strengthened a lot and it wouldnt suprise me if they made it into CL next season.

I think Silva must be worried with what he saw today. .

Face palm to the people questioning Silva here. He managed a watford side with players that some would consider worse than ours, and a club with a stature less than ours. Manager after manager we can keep blaming, but the truth is that the players, wether individually or collectively, are awful

And we won 23 - 0 a couple lof weeks ago, preseason is all about fitness and learning tactics it’s not serious. Sure we are playing with two different teams each half, it’s clear to see the approach is to change our philosophey as a team and he’s given the whole squad mins to learn how to press and his game plan.
