It doesn't really bother me who the shirt sponsors are, provided they pay us good money, but, once again the club contradict themselves. At the end of the sportpesa deal Blondie says in an ideal world we should not be sponsored by a betting firm, 12 months later, Blondie congratulates our great marketing team on securing a record deal with, wait for it, a betting firm. No hypocrisy there then.

I think the board bring a lot of it on themselves though mate.

Pretty sure Baxendale said we would never be the sort of club who would do this sort of thing.

It's at odds with EITC. The issue is that EITC gets too much focus. It's a side arm that wouldnt exist without the football club.
To be fair that isn't the case. I said myself on here a few weeks back that it would be embarrassing for us to get a gambling sponsor after saying we weren't going to do it but as far I can see what she actually said was that 'in an ideal world we would move away from it'. Well this isn't an ideal world. We're in trouble with the authorities for overspending and our biggest sponsorship deals have gone out of the window because of the recent sanctions. It's mildly embarrassing that we've had to do a bit of an about turn but it's not actually the massive climb down that some are painting it as.

The final line I totally agree with. Same with the 'people's club' thing which has seemingly somehow been twisted from meaning 'the club that the average bloke on the street supports' to being some statement of moral superiority.

We already have lost so much in sponsorship through the sanctioning of Usmanov I expect the club was forced to get the most money possible and not be overly particular about the nature of their business.

As supporters we cannot have it every way , spend money on expensive players, build a strong squad towards becoming a top team again while at the same time being precious about the source of sponsorship.

The club has been badly run and if somebody has a spare 1.5 billion I am sure they could buy the club run it properly and build a stadium... in the meantime we are where we are.

Would love to know the actual amount we are getting from them.

I don’t get the big proclamation about not going near betting firms in future, if we were going to go near betting firms for deals - why not just keep schtum and say nothing?

Wonder who they will put on the sleeve now….

Yes fair points.

I probably remembered her line being a bit firmer than that, but this is certainly a situation of "not an ideal world".

The latter point you make is right, but I sense is a reflection of Kenwright and Baxendale really. It's good we have been hard nosed, but it needs to be consistent. The acting as if we are morally better gets a bit tedious really.

You're right to way, when Moyes first said it, there was no almost religious- demoralism associated to it.

I really couldn’t care less, so what if the CEO said something that has come back to cause a bit of an awkward look, it’s far from their most embarrassing hour.
I’m more annoyed that having spent enough money to be in the higher echelons of the league and vying for serious money for sponsors, the complete ineptitude has left us scrabbling about for Mickey Mouse sponsors still whoever they are.
Man U £235m over 5 years (TeamVeiwer)
Arsenal £40m / season (Emirates)
Chelsea £40m / season (3) £20m / season WhaleFin
Wasn’t Us FC £40m / season and negotiating an allegedly £80m for next year…..

I suspect Stake will end up being more than £10m but less than £15m for us.

A good enough reason not to buy a shirt for next season. Really disappointed that we’ve gone with a gambling firm but it also shows our level right now.

Household brand? Nah, here’s some dodgy online casino.

They're heavily involved into crypto so a theres strong possibility they wont exist in 6 months.then we can look for a more ethical enterprise as a sponsor
