Thought it was brilliant when I left the cinema, but not as sure now - mainly based on my 7 yo's response to it. Happy enough but a bit NEA - didn't seem to make an emotional connection with the characters. He's defo a bit young to be picking up on all of it, but was surprised that he didn't have more of an investment - I think he just zoned out after the 92nd explosion, it's a frenetic film.
Technically great, though - every basic thing that was done wrong with script / story / acting / casting etc with the last three installments is done right here.

Like the originals, I loved it. I'm hard to please. If I was hyper critical, it copied a new hope quite a bit but added a bit extra.
Overall a triumph and had me feeling like a kid playing with my star war toys again.
PS, the ATAT and Vader always won in my bedroom playing with the toys.

The end scene was very theatrical and quite crap, Luke on an island? Wtf. Was painful to watch that bit.

In no universe was that brilliant. Perfectly fine, acceptable - but a shame they couldn't come up with a proper exclamation mark to end the film.

I don't understand what you wanted from the ending then.
Did you want an awards ceremony like we've seen before? Or the main characters looking out of the the window of a space ship?
It was always going to be that especially when he'd not featured beforehand.

It was a steady eddy conclusion - and no problem with that, the last scene is a big deal and the director didn't want to step on his dick, and sour a good film, by going large and getting it wrong.
Calling it brilliant sounds like it had you out of your seat or something - it was in the post all film.
