State-owned clubs

There will be City fans who think the season is a failure if they lose tomorrow. It's a crazy place to be. United fans haven't enjoyed a season in years.

Some City fans don’t support City anymore mate, they just aren’t the same club, different identity. They used to be a great club Summerbee, Bell, Goater, Rosler, Kinkladze etc.

Mad celebrations in Div 2 playoff under Joe, you won’t see similar if they win the CL tomorrow, it’s expected and sanitised. Like Lance Armstrong winning the Tour de France, it’s not a real win in my opinion.

I read last week in a Miguel Delaney article that the PL are drawing up plans banning ownership linked commercial deals, 17 clubs are in favour of it apparently.

You look at Cheat FC and £270 million of their £350 million commercial revenues (laughably the highest in the world) are with the Abu Dhabi investment Mubadala companies, their version of Saudi's PIF.

The Cheat FC chairman Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak is also on the board of Mubadala, their last 3 sponsorship deals from Mubadala of to sponsor cheat FC in the last 12 months Khaldoon is also the chairman of these companies, they added £70 million increase in commercial revenues form the season before, this is a serious conflict of interests, altogether Cheat FC have 9 commercial deals with Mubadala companies now.

PIF has literally a endless bottomless pit of money, already 3 companies are sponsoring NUFC, they have just signed a new shirt deal from £3 million a year to £25 million a year with a PIF company, their sleeve sponsor was £500k a season, they have one with a PIF company at £9 million a year. Look at PIF influence in world sport now in Formula 1, Boxing and now Golf, they are taking over to distract from their human right abuses and terrorism links of their country by tapping into sport with an aggressive sportswash policy.

PL need to get this ban underway or else the PL will be a P*ssing contest between 3 oil state investment funds if Qatar buy United, it will kill the PL and force clubs to breakaway and form another competition if the competitiveness is due to petro dollar human rights abusive states.
If this is real, it is only to pull up the ladder behind them to prevent future competitors.

I support Manchester City and I’m loving it. I couldn’t give a shiny sh ite about how we got our money.

Barely any other fan cares though. I remember growing up and watching finals in the 90's and being in awe at proper clubs at the pinnacle of the sport, deservedly fighting it out to be the big one. Now because of you, PSG etc it's just not the same. I remember you beating Utd in the cup semi-final the year you won the cup for the first time in years and being happy for you, also who will ever forget that Aguero moment but that's the it ended as an underdog story. You fell into a stadium because of the commonwealth games and all of a sudden became and attractive proposition to super rich people. They wouldn't have touched you if you were at main Road. Robinho hadn't even heard of you when he signed. It's financial doping and everybody knows why you're in the final tonight, cheating. Of course you'll enjoy it and good for you fella.

Dont blame you mate - couldn't give a
monkeys had Usmanovs dough bagged us an FA Cup or Top 4 Finish just a shame we blown our load :dodgy:

Sadly they're a few fans on ere who think only British/Evertonian/US owners are pure and anyone else is ruining the game when ultimately its the British/American businessmen & TV companies who have destroyed our domestic game with the TV cash / creation of the premiere league.

The likes of Mansour, Abramovich, Saudi's & Usmanov are a by product of those "pure" westerners and their capitalism.

Quite the contradiction within one post there mate.

It’s not so much the financial doping IMO. Football has always been dominated by those with more money. It’s where the money comes from and why the source is investing it. I don’t begrudge City their success as such, but if it was us I’m not sure how excited I would be getting about it

There's a lot in the news about state-owned clubs at the moment, with all the Saudi stuff, City in the CL final, Qatar trying to buy Man U.

How would you react if a petro state bought us? Would you happy or would it affect your support in a negative way?

For me personally I'm not really sure. I'm not sure I would take much pleasure in steamrollering English football like City are doing, if we would be owned by an authoritarian state. But maybe I would be able to get used to it. I don't really know.
If you didn’t kick off about uncle uz link you’d unlikely complain about anyone

I'd draw the line with the Saudis defo. They only got allowed as the government is selling weapons to them.

In city's case it does make it a bit numb, but on the positive side they've created a serious number of jobs and made the area around the Etihad amazing.
