I have no idea what model Everton are pursuing anymore. It certainly isn't the one we've had for years based on the academy, good value small fee signings and a marquee player every three or four seasons.

The academy has been placed effectively in moth balls, and the primary route to add new players appears to be throwing mountains of cash at mediocrity like Bolasie, Sissoko and Depay.

Haway man Dave you complain when we ain't spending money in the summer and calling Moshiri now we look like we are taking the route of throwing money around your complaining about that and how we are abandoning the academy.

People moaning for moaning sake lately.

An interesting development.

So essentially I can call anyone anything I like and a little smiley makes it all OK.

I'm sure that will work out fine.

☺️

No, if you think a smiley will avoid moderation, you would be wrong.
The emoticons are there to enhance a point, not disguise it.

Would rather koeman gave some of the academy lads a chance prior to the window, just to see where there at. I'd much rather Davies, holgate and Calvert-Lewin get game time ahead of cleverley, jagielka and Valencia at present. We know the other 3 are not the standard at present for the club to progress, so why not give others the opportunity? If Davies and co can't perform by all means spend the money in January. However I'm mystified by the continued exclusion of holgate as I've not seen another young defender in the premiership as good as him this season.

wasn't Calvert-Lewin on the subs bench recently? i wouldn't be surprised to see him ahead of Valencia, who i think was strictly an emergency loan in case Lukaku gets hurt.

re Holgate/Davies - completely agree but while i am always sympathetic to giving the youth a chance, but it's hard to say without knowing how they've trained.. we always have so much less information. wouldn't be surprised to see them get more time when the fixtures pile up though

Only one of your examples plays for Everton.

However, Barkley and Davies ( academy graduates) are squad members.

You sir are a fool.
Davies has gone from the first team to a squad member and that's seen as progress by you?

One of those three players might play for Everton, but another would have been here if Sissoko had agreed to sign for a kings ransom, fee.

Try and get it right before you label others as a fool.

I'd never moan if we tried to spend big money on a real marquee signing. What happened this summer was a joke. Bolasie for £27M or whatever. insane.

THIS THIS THIS !!!

For years I wish we had money, but that was because I expected it to mean that we kept the same model, except deals for Moutinho, Riquelme and other constant links would finally get over the line. No more losing targets to haggle over the odd million pound.
Exactly mate. The model should have been retained as was and cash injected to make the big signing every 3/4 seasons one big signing every summer.

Tom Davies is no where near ready to play regular first team football and he is the furthest in his development. The under 23's league is probably league two level.
