If it had been Overmars hardly anyone would be complaining despite him doing nothing except helping Ajax win what was at times a 1 team league. Cannot understand any negativity towards this move apart from the usual elements of GOT which seem to love making out Everton are rubbish and never do anything right.

Never in Overmars tenure has ajax been in a 1 team league....

Lot of talk about him finding Zola and Drogba.
I'm sure there is a lot more to it than that, whether they would fit into the team structure, work ethic, settle in a different country and I'm sure many other factors as others have mentioned FIFA and CM seem to have simplified people's perception.
There have been many many more world beaters that have failed to make the transition to the Premier League.

I suppose I agree that the "bigger club" stuff is limited. However I have resented some of the insinuation of Everton as a newly moneyed team buying it's way to the top where it doesn't deserve to be. Without being horrible, we have won more league titles than West Ham, Spurs and City put together. Before Chelsea and City had their investment we had won more leagues than Chelsea, City, Leeds, Spurs & West Ham put together, all held up as "big clubs".
Apologies if that's what you think I've implied, it really isn't what I meant. The first games I remember as a nipper were Everton winning the FA Cup, I was around when you won stuff and know what you've won before.

But, you are newly monied. The other teams have taken a place you used to sit at, many using money. To ever have sustained success against them, then it's going to take that new money to do it.

What is or isn't "silly money" is up for debate really. I would imagine we are making him an offer that is commensurate with his importance to ourselves. I think money is one factor but he probably thinks Moshiri offers him opportunities that may go beyond Leicester or Arsenal.
You're offing money that only the top couple of teams would usually offer, it's no disgrace to admit you're using cash to get people in. To get a rapid head start it's what's needed. We did the same in the Championship, I have nothing against it.

Your owner is no Richer than ours, so we'll wait and see what you do long term. Looks to me like he's investing heavily on the ground floor, similar to what our owners did when they came in. They invested loads in the facilities, training ground, Cat 1 status, scouting, sports science... with the hope it provides a long term base and means you don't have to spend silly money constantly on players.

As regards Kante I don't think we could have signed him. However we have signed Walsh and Koeman from Southampton and Leicester which I would say are as big coups. I think if we would have bid for him we would have offered him a compelling case to come, yet it is a hypothetical.

My point was just that the name Everton alone isn't YET enough to sign lure people from teams already doing well. They are big coups, but there are other factors at play. Saints are treading water hoping their strategy works and you've given him what £7m a year... he's probably trippled his money. If Everton or the project was the lure for him you could offered him a few quid more than he was already getting.

Walsh there are plenty of factors going on not just money as I said.

Moshiri will love this appointment especially from his financial background.

Brings in a guy in who is a specialist in buying low to eventually get maximum gain.

I'm a bit deflated to be honest,we had dreams of Monchi to getting a scout who has never ever done the doF role before, sadly this appointment shows me we will be targetting up and coming and bargain basement under Moshiri.Let's face it Leicester won a league when the big guns never even performed or had any consistancy, and leicester with a easy run of game until new year capitilised on it,last season as a whole was a weird once in a lifetime anomoly.

I get your point, but I think it's a bit of a disservice to them. they got to the top and stayed there for a long time with Arsenal and Spuds (and for a while City) breathing down their neck until the last few games. They were without doubt the most consistent side in the league. every team has an "easy" run of games at some point in the season, but apart from Villa, I don't think there were many predictable (if not easy) games last year.

We've lost 4 out of our last 47 premier league game over two seasons, it baffles me that people can try and pick holes in what we did. :D

How anyone is not happy with this is beyond me, what is not too like haha look at the signings with a small budget, im made up to be honest!
We signed Amartey from Copenhagen and Gray from Brum in Jan and they are both looking like they could be quality. Gray especially looks like an absolute steal at £3m. Musa came on for a few minutes yesterday... if people thought Vardy was fast, this guy is ridiculous!! So what he's left us with should keep us going for some time.

Gray is a good prospect, there were rumours we where interested late in the day - would have liked to have signed him to be honest.

Musa is very speedy

Moshiri should have thrown money at Giuseppe Marotta who is head and shoulders above anyone at the DoF role, who transformed Juventus since they were in Serie B,he has the best eye for talent who always fit a system that's brought them success but also his choice of managers who have continued a winning platform, the club has not missed a beat since he joined the club.

Or Moshiri loves this appointment especially from his competitive personality.
Brings in a guy who is has a track record of maximizing his funds given and has a track record of winning.

All about how you spin it mate
