Have we missed the deadline to bid?

I've a rather tenuous link to the 'other' Assistant Manager at Leicester. I can only echo the noises that I've heard regarding Steve Walsh - that he's incredibly well thought of at Leicester and they'll be sad to see him leave. A good scout with great footballing knowledge as well as being a good guy, sounds like a no-brainer.

"While at Chelsea, he scouted Gianfranco Zola and Didier Drogba, both of whom went on to have successful careers at the club."
Of course not all of those he scouts turn into title winners, but come on, those are players that went on to be big stars. Just like Kante, Mahrez and Vardy.

They were fairly big stars already like but not every signing has to be an unknown who becomes a superstar.

I'm absolutely thrilled with this signing. A quality DOF I believe is essential for a Prem club these days. In today's football, managers come and go at such frequency it is mind blowing that clubs give these men absolute authority at selling and buying players. Because of this turnover Managers must win now. So you can understand why they may sacrifice long term success to win now, which I believe can be detrimental to a club. I think it is essential to the long term health of a club that you have a person in charge that can look at the overall picture.
Walsh built a club that won the Premier League title 2 years after promotion. Add that to the fact that Moshiri wants him and trusts him with his money and I see no reason why anyone wouldn't be on board with this.

I have just found out Steve is Blackpool Mickey Walsh's brother :)

I had read that his brother was once an Everton player but I thought it was the other Mickey Walsh.

So he's from Chorley, not too far away, did his teacher training here in Liverpool, scouted loads of players for Chelsea and Leicester, and his brother used to play for us.

Good start.
