Steven Naismith though.

It's a tough dilemma. Barkley offers more in the middle of the field, putting less pressure on Barry and McCarthy. Naismith is scoring goals, but isn't suited as a sole forward, especially when you have Lukaku. And we have better options out wide. He's doing too well to drop, but causes formation issues.

It's tough having so many boss players to fit in.
It's tough on Naismith because he needs a very certain position to operate in and he cant (as he's proven in spades) operate elsewhere.

But things haven't stood still and we have Eto'o now. He may well hold him off there for that spot in the middle of a three, but how often do we even play the system?

It's proven system that worked well for us and will no doubt be used again as and when we need it, having multiple options and good players is a great problem for Martinez to have obviously.

Barkley in the middle of a 4-3-3 with Naismith in front of him and lukaku and eto'o out wide. Drool.

Don't actually think I've ever been happier for a player to come good as I am for naismith. gives 110% every game a real example for the younger players I think.

He has a presence on the pitch and can contribute more than Naismith defensively. IMO, Naismith largely enjoys the luxury of a free role in behind Lukaku and isn't really tasked with what Barkley has to do. RB is primarily a creative player, but front to back as a defensive whole we're reduced by his absence from the middle of that team.

What is this nonsense?

Not bad considering how gash some were calling him not do long ago...

:coffee:

He was gash tho not so long ago.

I honestly don't think anyone was being harsh on him as his performances were that of a league 2 player. Not occasionally but EVERY time he played.

Maybe it was playing out of posistion or coming back from injury, or even a mixture of both but the turn around he has made is astonishing. Gota be one of the first names on the team sheet currently!

Someone on here has the bossest story ever about Naismith, how they were slating him all match against Chelsea and when he scored the people in front turned around and said they were his family and to [Poor language removed].

Just...legends.

Us Naisy boys gotta watch his back. After so many tried to stick the knife into it.

People were told time and again he was coming back from a serious knee injury.

Also he could not demonstrate his tremendous slotting ability from out wide. Compared to now in the middle.

Ask Mrs Naismith.
